Hello to all you marines out there. I am not one of you but am proud of all you guys do. However at my job we have this new meathead that started about a month ago and claims he was a marine. He is alot of big talk and assume is very untruthfull. First he said he was in the marines for a year, and in that year he became an engineer and learned to defuse bombs, how the hell can you become an engineer in a year especially with basic being 3 months??? Any tips or questions i can ask him to call his BS lies?? thanks guys.
You'd be surprised what ya can do in the Marines for a year. I don't see any big BS story going on, If he was to BS ya, he'd say something more high speed stuff.

Actually.....Boot camp is 3 months......then on to engineer school .......and to the fleet all with9ing about 6 months Im sure....
be careful....you just might get your candy azz whipped
" Im not easily impressed....so think hard about it before you try"
....engineers do landmines/mobility/counter-mobility/vertical construction...they don't do bombs, sub-munitions, missiles, rockets, projectiles, hand grenades, nuclear weapons, etc...they have been backdooring to get the IED mission, even go so far as trying to define some as "low-end" IOT horn their way in....without route clearance equipment, engineers are basically a pink mist parade waiting to happen....they won't talk about '04 when they had snuffy engineers footsweeping along roads with mine detectors looking for IEDs....couple of my buddies went on post-blasts and it wasn't pretty.....engineers routinely complained EOD got too much money/tools/equipment....now look who doesn't have a mission...sit on the sidelines and get me a ham sandwich........
I wish all skills had a school, Rank or MOS rating of a civy Union job, but some in Military just do OJT as best they could to get a job done asap. Point is, for a Marine to BS about something, he'd pick a stone cold Sniper, Jack Ryan or James Bond fare.
Ya, didn't think of that scenario. We probably won't find out since it seems like the original poster was scared off.
Knowing people and the games they play on the net, chances are it's a bored nerd posting on a Marine board to get their snots and giggles off. The Poster is probably cyber whacking off as a lurker.
