I smell a POSER. Claimed to be a SgtMaj with an Army MOH. I think he just picked all the colorful medals to look cool. Do we have any poser buster available?

And how did he make E-9 in 5 years? Must be a ***** hot Marine.

USAF 76-2-80:---It does have a curious aroma (aka: smell) about it. Strange to have NO Bio, but lots of ribbons. Would be odd to not have a USMC Good Conduct ribbon if he is wearing four "rockers". Those are awarded after each 3 years of good service.

The other thing is "The Soldiers Medal"... Confused, it could have happened...sometimes different branches might have guys attached to their units,,,but usually---I think I smell some unrefrigerated limburger..?!?

What I would expect to see on a Marine rack-E-9 variety would be a Navy Achievement Medal and/or Navy Commendation Medal.---And a Bio!

I suggest (since you are a Mod.) that you contact a poster named "Goldenwings" who is a retired Master Gunny and Recon, and see if he has any knowledge of this guy. I think Goldenwings is in Iraq as a civvie employee. Check with poster "WallyAug1" (usually in the Hot topics section) as he is a Gunny and active duty.

Also, check with the "Feds".. I'm sure they keep a list of people that have been awarded the CMH.

He has been registered since this April, I ran across his profile while checking out another poser.
He has never posted, makes you wonder why he even filled his profile out.

Roger that. Yaa know...I often wonder why people do stuff like that [fake bios/war records/ribbons]...reminds me of that guy that gave some $$$ to Slick Willy so he could be buried at Arlington, claiming he was a Merchant Marine veteran... Roll Eyes.

Well keep yer eyes open.

I find it extremely difficult for this individual to be a Marine SgtMaj and MOH recipient, or any of the other Medals which are all Army. Also, his name does not appear among those honored warriors (see http://www.cmohs.org/recipients/living_recips.htm

I think someone needs to check this out since it is a serious offense to claim the MOH or any othe Medal for that matter.

Wesly Fox was a Gunny just prior to his MOH and was promoted to Captain once again just prior to putting on the MOH. Hope to see him again this fall....I think the Corps would make a SNCO a Officer if a MOH was on the way...

Wesley Fox was an officer and rifle company commander when he earned his MOH.

He, along with a few thousand SNCO's were given temporary commissions during the Vietnam War expansion of the Marine Corps. These guys became officers with the understanding that they would probably revert to the enlisted ranks (at the current grade of their year group) at some point, but would get to retire at the highest rank they successfully held during their careers.

This meant that many SSGTs and Gunnies were commissioned 2nd Lts and made it to Captain or Major before they were reverted back to the enlisted ranks several years later. If they were a SSGT when commissioned and several years later, when reverted, their enlisted peers were now Master Sergeants, that was the grade they were reverted to, with associated time in grade, etc. But, they got to retire at their officer rank, which in most cases provided them with larger pensions - so it was a good deal for those involved in the program.

A small number of these temporary officers were given permanent commissions after the war and allowed to remain officers for the rest of their careers. Wesley Fox was one of them.

Just thought I'd pass this gouge as an FYI to the younger guys who didn't know that at one point during the Vietnam War the Corps took thousands of SNCOs and made them temporary officers.

USMC Mustanger---Hello Sir, and thanks for the info! I've known for years about battlefield commissions---Guadalcanal had the worst( or shall I say the most of them)... Eek

The Airdales had a program in WW2 that permitted enlisted Marines to drive airplanes. I recall that they had a retirement ceremony for the last of those guys at El Toro---It was interesting to see Aviator wings on his chest and Sgt.Mjr. stripes on his sleeves.. Cool

Just curious, WWII ended 8/9 May 1945. How long ago did this Marine retire?

Alfrdsmith:---That would have been about 1971-72 timeframe. Hey, the US needed pilots---and someone at HQMC figured out that if 14 year old kids can fly airplanes, theennn... an enlisted Marine can probably do it! Ooorah!

DevilDog,
I think I ran into that guy as well, on a float about that time. I saw the wings on him and said, "Gunny, I'd love to hear the story!"

He told me he was enlisted, then got into a commissoning program, but was passed over for Major twice and reverted to Gunny in order to make it to retirement. He seemed to be a nice guy and the pilots all seemed to respect him quite a bit. If I remember correctly, he had more combat flight hours than anyone else in the squadron had peacetime flight hours except the CO and XO! He taught civilian flight lessons as an local Jacksonville airport.

Just a headsup Marines! Wink
I received email from Mary at the P.O.W. network this am.
They sent off for his military records at St. Louis.
Results: No records found
This guy is a fake and guilty of claiming the medal of honor Frown, which is a federal offense which carries a punishment of prison time and/or a fine under the Stolen Valor Act.
(source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor_Act_of_2005 )
His public profile, IMO, should be saved for the authorities, actually the P.O.W. Network http://www.pownetwork.org/phonies/phonies1052.htm has updated their site with the fact this poser now claims the MOH with link to his Military.com public profile, and then deleted with a permanent suspension.
Just my 2 cents.
Robert

ok so part of me wants to believe that noone is that fucking stupid that they would actually put a MOH on their profile and claim to still be on active duty. But then again nothing seems to surprise me anymore. IF someone was going to wear something they don't rate why must it be the most known medal in the military and not just a NAM where noone would question it. Not that I condone it of course. Lets flush this turd with all the rest. I can't even begin to describe how much I hate these honorless, spineless, wannabes who didn't have the stones to serve in real life.
