The CDC says that almost all flu being reported is H1N1.
quote:
The H1N1 flu vaccine is becoming more available, but it is still being outpaced by the virus itself, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday.

“Essentially what we’re seeing is that the virus continues to be spreading across the country and we are seeing a steady increase in the availability of the vaccine, but not as quickly as we’d like it to be,” CDC Director Thomas Frieden said during an afternoon press briefing.

The government has received 31.8 million doses of H1N1 vaccine and expects to receive several million more by the end of the week, Frieden said.

Pennsylvania last week had to discard 6,000 doses of H1N1 vaccine because it was not properly refrigerated. With the U.S. already facing a shortage, Frieden said every dose is important, but that relatively few mishaps have occurred since the vaccine became available.

“It’s obviously frustrating and we regret when any loss of vaccine occurs, but we’ve shipped out 30 million doses and only a few incidences of improper handling have occurred,” he said. “This is why it’s important that proper tracking and monitoring of the vaccine are done, and why we can’t rapidly send out dosages, because not every provider has a refrigerator that can monitor the temperature of the vaccine properly.”

At least 114 children have died from H1N1 flu complications since the spring, the CDC said last week. The government has released more Tamiflu for children to remedy spot shortages of the children's version of the flu medication. Tamiflu has been shown to reduce the severity of flu symptoms if used within 72 hours of coming down with the virus.

Frieden said virtually all of the flu spreading throughout the U.S. at this time is H1N1.

“There’s almost no seasonal flu so far,” he said. “We’ve seen a few strains here and there, but overwhelmingly H1N1 is the strain circulating and it continues to be very tightly matched with vaccine.”

Earlier, you started a thread for CONFIRMED H1N1 cases. At that time, my son had finished a series of tamaflu.

A test was taken and sent to CDC,(I was led to believe) And we were told that we would be notified.

After several phone calls and getting every excuse possible as why the results not available, My wife was told that the "Test" was too expensive, so results would not "confirm."

When pressed as to whether my son should seek the flu shot, (He's in college) we were told that his symptoms were consistent with H1N1, and the vaccine would be of little use to him.

We have known this doctor for some time now, and trust her. She doesn't understand why we received such conflicting info either. I can only believe she is being strung around like us.

I can only wonder if we will ever know any real facts surrounding this outbreak. It seems to be far more political than medical.

My daughter's doctor seems like she's stringing her along too. The fact is, they are being strung along by government. They have no clue when they will be getting vaccine. She just keeps saying, "we are expecting a shipment next week". How many times have we heard that and nothing ever shows up?

If this was the worst epidemic in history, they would never give the public the truth. We'd have to wait 50 years to read about it in a history book... after revisionists had their way. Fact is, this outbreak is legit and government is just covering up for the fact they have not planned for it very well.

If there is any good news it's that most who contract H1N1 will beat it on their own, without help from government. It's just those small percentage that are being sacrificed, through poor planning, that will have to bear the brunt. For them, this is catastrophic.

The good news is, your son probably now has a better natural vaccination.

PS: Some people in government (not mentioning names) got "cuts" in line.

PPS: You should check to see if you (or your insurance) was charged for the test. If they charged for the test but didn't perform it, that's insurance fraud.

My daughter just got a call from her doctor. The doctor said she is getting 5 shots of vaccine (5 only) and that she's going to try and snag one for my daughter.
