Blackhawk suck for fastroping. Oakley work well.

And its really not about the boot, its all about the ropers abilities.

So are you saying boots make no difference when you fast rope?

Did you just contradict yuorself? Either the boot matters, or it doesn't. You claim Blackhawks suck and than say the boot doesn't matter..... Confused

Maybe a little clarity is in order. Proper fast roping procedure is THE most important factor. Boots have a very small effect on the success or failure of a fast rope exercise.
That being said...if you rope in stocking feet, or plastic rain boots, you may not have the friction/traction needed to stop completely.
Most of the authorized "military style" (and our very own USCG SuperBoot) boots will be more than adequate for your fast roping needs.
There are boots out there that have small ridges on the instep of the boot for roping. I have even tried a few. No difference.
I will end this post by saying that this is my experience and may differ for others.
I'm sure there are some gear-que...uuhhhh...gear-loving-guys that may have a different opinion.
Hope this helped.
