Im in the process of joining my local MSST as a reservist--I have my billet locked up for Port Security Specialist but want to hear what its like from other reservists within an MSST (you dont have to have a PS rate, any are fine). Would anyone be interested in emailing about this or a quick call perhaps? I cannot get the names or emails of any local reservists within the MSST for some reason. Thanks, much appreciated

Call the MSST you are looking at joining. Ask to speak to one of the Reserve LPO's. They won't give you member information until you are in the unit, however you can talk to them on the phone. The unit should be able to get a messege to the right person.

It also helps if you put the name of the MSST which you are going to, that way people can see who you are speaking about.

Thanks for the info, yes I have called there but nobody ever answers so I am guessing they are underway or training at those times

I have spoke with a coordinator in the past but they were not fully aware of what exactly reservists curriculum consisted of as they were active.

You'd better read all of this:ME Rating stand-up; PS rating to be decommissioned.

There's an old saying, "choose your rate, choose your fate".

The PS rating will be decommissioned within the next two years. No automatic shift to the ME rate, you'll have to qualify for it.
