I really hope that was in the ocean, b/c if not... you really need to work with a swim instructor on it. They'll clean up your stroke, and it'll drop your time alot. Mine went down about 4 minutes (14 to 10min) after working with one...
Then why does the requirements say 20? BTW Im talking about the msrt, dont know if that is different. I am in pritty good shape, not a lot of swimming before this but a lot of running. I thought I did pritty good with 18:30, but you guys are a bunch of swim champs.
As a VI instructor, the requirements for VI is a 500yd continuious swim in 20 min's or less. If you took a break during the swim you failed, and do not meet the standards.
I wasnt taking the test.... I stoped to see what time I was getting halfway through because I dont swim a lot, But I could defenetly do it again without a break. Thanks.
Hey man send me an e-mail I am stationed at the unit as well. I am sure I can answer most of your questions and maybe help you get a feel for what it is all about with out breaking OPSEC. If you are looking to do the DAS Team I will tell you though you will want to be as fit as possible. It isnt just pass the assessment and you are in it is a whole pipeline of training that you will have to complete.
Don't forget to practice walking on rice paper without tearing it... and snatching pebbles from your master's hand! Very important skillsets! Good luck. Oh yeah, bring snacks to put in your vest!
BZ-2, there is nothing you wrote that even has 20 minutes in it. I did read what you wrote. Marine, thanks man I'll look you up tomarrow. gibsoneric, what the f--k? I dont get it, oh well.
inside jokes. don't let them get you down! 12 minutes is the standard to be on the team. 1.5 in 12 or under. 50 and 50, 6 and 6. at least it used to be. PT tests were always the easy work out day. once you get that down, it's all throwing stars and ninja shoes! luck to you my friend...
