As a mother of a soldier who is currently serving a tour in Iraq...I have to say...I am apalled at the amount of blogs written by people that don't have a clue...and can't even buy a clue...concerning what is going on over there or in Afganistan. I am also in utter amazement that there are hundreds of thousands of crap blogs from people insulting other people on their opinions and less than 1000 written in support of our soldiers. What is going on people?? Are some of you so self-absorbed or starved for attention...that you spend valuable time and effort responding to or writing crap that you've forgotten the rest of the world?? I am completely in favor of everyone enjoying the freedom of speech that we each have...but...could you take 5 minutes away from writing insulting crap to someone you don't even know...to let the people actually fighting and dying for that freedom know that you appreciate it?? My son is on the other side of this world...he sleeps with his weapon...eats with his weapon...dodges mortars...car bombs...snipers...children with guns...trip wires...women wired with explosives...worn out helicopters...walks with a 30 something pound ceramic plate vest on and the rest of his battle rattle gear (that he paid for...thank you to those who prefer NOT to increase our military spending)...lives in a 'sandbox' ( a very nice analogy for He**)...and hasn't seen his family in over a year...and won't since the military is considering extending the tours of the Army yet again...maybe some of you could write Congress and ask that all branches of the military step up to the plate...or at the very least...give the Army equal time on and off...since it's OK for the marines to do so...or maybe some of you could take the extra time and write a thank-you note to our soldiers...or send a care package...just a thought...since you have so much down-time. Thank you.

Don't mess with the OLD FARTS - age, skill, wisdom, and a little treachery always overcome youth and arrogance......

I understand being a blue star mother has got to be stressful. However, you must realize we are a band of military brothers. Some of the best or worse fights I’ve ever seen depending how you perceive them have been between biological bothers but you take on one you take on both. Most of us here have the need to vent in some way or another and our writings may appear uncouth but in spite of our many disagreements I would still have 90% of these guys watch my back any time. Thanks for the blue star and your sons service.

Dear Mame, I contacted my Senator and Congressman in Washington: To ease up on deployments and extended service dates, I also, requested that they in Washington start thinking about a Draft. Our young men and women are abused by our Government to much and lately it bothers me as much as it bothers you. Most folks that live in Our Country think that Freedom is free because they were born here, but thats not so, As Our Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines guard our great Nation to protect US of our values, our way of life and our beliefs. I "salute" those who have served, those who serve today and those who will serve tomorrow.

BGWC Doyle:

I can't let it go by... Your list of the U.S. Armed Forces excluded the Coast Guard.
Coast Guardsmen are standing the watch, defending the U.S., just like everybody else. They carry out whatever missions are assigned to them by proper authority.

Semper Paratus.
