Well said. The notion that things must be removed to prevent "offense" is contrary to the other notions celebrating "diversity and inclusion." Seems these folks can't even get their own doctrines straight! |

Our government has allowed God to be taken out of many places. Or should I say we have allowed them to. I agree that it is time for all who believe in our Lord to stand up to those who are trying to take Him out of our hearts also. |

I'm not so sure our government has allowed it. It's not republicans that are behind this. Socialist Democrats are always looking for ways to turn America into the USSR, and "workers paradise" and are constantly attacking Americas traditional istitutions with their law degrees and radical activist judges like Ruth Bader-Ginsberg. I agree that this VA foolishness has gone too far and that we vets have been too quiet about this religious sanitization business. If a person finds "offense" in a chapel area, then stay away! The actions of the VA have no doubt created an offense to a much larger number of folks who find a measure of peace and solace in know that God is real in their lives and that they have a place to go to worship Him Who is The Giver of Life and the Master Physician. I worked for the Feds for nearly 34 years and have repeatedly seen this radical pendelum swing in an ill-concievied effort to avoid giving offense to some imagined boogieman who might squall and bawl about something heard or seen in or near a federal facility. Let's make some noise and light a fire under the "waffle-bottom" bureaucrats who dream up this nonsense!

Has anyone realized that this topic is so quiet, you could hear a pin drop? (compared to the other threads?) My explanation for that is because no one cares if God is taken out of the the Military. Marxist brainwash at our Universities over the past 40 years has finally taken it toll, and most poeple now think the more secular our society is (like the USSR was) the better. |

Well said Mr. Kinney. We Americans definitely need to be tolerant of others' faith or lack thereof, but it remains that this country was founded on Christian principles and we need to adhere to that. Alot of good men and women have died for my right to worship as I see fit, and that right should not be abridged by the stoke of a pen of some bureaucrat in DC.

From all the indications I have seen, those of us who DO believe in God greatly outnumber those who do not. So why are we letting them push us around? Contact your elected officials at both state and national levels, and let them KNOW that the people who elected them do not support this purging of God from our lives.

While it is your right to believe that, it is the right of other to disagree. For a nation founded on Christian Principles to have God on their money, and in the Pledge of Allegiance is natural. Unfortunately, the term "separation of Church and State" is not well-defined anywhere. We swear an oath to/before God for entry in the armed forces, when we are sworn in as a witness in court, when sworn in for any elected office that has an oath, and I do not believe that is wrong. Now if the Government were to step out and say that Baptist, or Methodist, or Lutheran, or LDS, or Jehovah's Witness, or Catholicism, or Judaism was to be THE National Religion... well NOW, you have crossed the line separating Church and State. All one has to do is look around to SEE that the liberals have not been good for our country. Under liberal idealism, the country is becoming more divided, not diverse, but divided... there is a difference. The generations that BUILT this Country worshipped the God of their choice. If they served no God, then they did not have to worship. These same men and women sacrificed uncountably, for what? So the liberals could tear down, and destroy everything they worked for? I think not. They did it to provide a secure future for their children and grand-children. Oddly enough, the farther we get from the ideals of the men and women who BUILT this country, the more problems we have. We have illegal aliens flooding this country, because they actually get more care from the government than those of us who worked and provided the money they are given. We have chiidren acting out and killing folks, but we cannot properly discipline our children, because it might give them a bad self-image, and we might be charged with abuse. GET OVER IT. My old man beat the crap out of me, until I was old enough to stop him, and then I joined the Marine Corps. I turned out ok. I raised both of my children with strong discipline. THEY never took a gun to school. Both have good jobs, and are contributing members of our society. When you remove the christian principles from a natino that was built on them, the result is what we see today. |

When I went to serve my Country in VietNam, I didn't have, nor did I need a room with a Cross and Bible in order to pray. My religion is very important and very personal. I do not want or need any validation from the VA or the Federal Government. Our Government was established to provide for our common defense, establish justice and liberty and promote the general welfare. Nothing more. Our Country was built by independent thinkers who did not need or want a large central government. Less government is better government.

I am a retired US Navy Chaplain and my first duty as a chaplain was at MCRD San Diego. I will never forget conduting worship in the theater on Sunday morinings with hundreds of recruits responding to my "Good Morning greeting with GOOD MORNING SIR!!!. Spiritual believe is so important to being a complete person. But there are those who donot see this. I am now a full time chaplain at a VA Medical Center. The major driving force behind tyhe neturalization of the VA Chapels is not the whim of a self serving administrator. This come about because of a law suit brought by the Freedom From Religion organization. They contend that VA Chaplains and any religious programs sponsored in a VA Hospital is in violation of the separattion of Chruch and state. The suit was dismised at the by a federal court but htat ruling is being appealed by the Freedom from Religion folks. Making the chapels as nutural as possible is a result of this law suit. What are we to do? The VA is trying to preserve the right to provide spiritual care and tap into that which is beyond ourselves to provide comfort, strenght, and healing to the heros of our nation. The men and women who have stood in countless recruiting stations and have taken the same oath that the author of this OP-ED has taken. The next stop for this suit could be the highest court in the land. May we all pray that this action will be put to rest and those who desire to worship and pray and believe will not have htis right striped away.

I am a Mother of a soldier serving in Iraq for the third time. After his first deployment my son said that had it not been for his bible and his belief in God he doesn't think he would have made it through. He is a SSG. in the 101st and an incident that occured last week
really got to him. One of his brothers and a very good friend was killled right in front of him. He said that evening he opened his Bible and found some comfort in God's word. Although I know that he will never be the same and has severe PTSD it is good to know that my son is able to open his Bilble and find comfort within it's pages. America needs to wake up! I believe that some times God brings us to our knees in order for us to look up! I don't normally post on here but I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF YOU WHO HAS SACRIFICED FOR THIS COUNTRY AND HELD TRUE TO THE BELIEFS "SHE" WAS BUILT ON! What I have just read is of no surprise to me. This 'take God out of everything' thing all started with one woman and her campaign to take God out of schools. She was an atheist and had a son in school. My deep fear is that the pledge of allegiance is next on the 'hit' list.

Amen...someone with some sense! I could not agree more. I as a child was also punished and I am here to say I am just fine. Needless to say we as a nation have given our government way to much power. I remember getting a swat in middle school for being tardy also. Wake up people this is whats wrong with out country. Children are out of control...school shooting almost weekly somewhere. Our Country is out of control....

What is going on with this nation? They have removed "God" from the Washington monument, removed the Ten Commandments from court houses, taken down crosses, removed "In God We Trust" from some new coins being minted and now will not allow Christian Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Navy personnel worhsip in a house of God with the cross of Jesus on display. We now have legislators who take their oath of office on the Koran instead of the bible and have a presidential candidate who will not swear allegiance to the flag of the United States. Unless Americans start taking notice we will have Muslims running our country. FDR said we should allow immigrants to become citizens but with the understanding that they would become Americans and be assimilated into our culture not the other way around which is what is happening in England.
