Call him what you like but, he is correct, many just refuse to see the writing on the wall. We held a losing hand from the get go when we invaded Iraq...and ya can't bluff in this game of poker.

It was clear by virtue of the 2002 NIE that the US had no reason to invade Iraq, a country
that was neither our enemy nor an imminent threat. Nor did they have WMD, and the adminsitration knew it well before invading. The invasion destabilized the middle east, put Iran into the power brokers seat, radically enhanced our national security problems according to the 2006 and 2007 NIE, and creating a new generation of jihadies/terrorists that never would've existed otherwise. There is no combinatorial disaster in our nations history that measures up to Iraq, supposedly to fight terrorism where the administration knew it was not. The bad news will (unfortunately, and is likely to) continue, and all those lives lost (US and Iraqi), treasure wasted, etc, will only benefit Bin Laden and Al Queda. All while distracting the US (and the world) from the real terrorism fight in Afghanistan, and allowing Bin Laden to get away. I only hope that it isn't too late to salvage that effort from a similar fate. What a shame... |

Now granted I’m all about burning things down and plundering them. If anything operation scorched earth all the way.
But I think the real issue in Iraq is separation of the church and state. Many Countries have gone through it then the Americans fail to realize it. This is not a battle of gods or the guy with the biggest guns. It’s really the guy who will to walk down the street and be willing to be shot at. Now personally I think you’re on a political campaign really your trying to win in the Iraq riding. Problem is there no voting. Like most Americans not much different. But this one special they hate you. Wait I’m still not seeing a difference. An I’m sure the guys over there aren’t that fond of them either. So in your case what you need is a Jesus or a prayer. An someone who willing to die on the cross for it. Problem is there god got that pretty well covered. An I feel is if they’re not going to take over westernize people to much. There a popularity issue there to. So how do that. A: you tear down the country to nothing. An when I mean nothing you burn everything that mean something to them. By making them believe what you want them to do. This isn’t political friendly. B: you give them there Jesus C: Truly learn what it means to be a person in Iraq. Nothing screams I love you like the guy working next to me that is white. As long as there not white American. But who could this 3rd party be well Canada. An I guess what they don’t believe in American either. So the problem is you need to truly make these people believe that you are there to help them. An there churches mean nothing. Other then the hopes of a future in the afterlife. That’s quite easy when your living in a bombed out village. You could post poster to show them that you are there to help them. Problem is they can’t read. It’s just like training gorillas on mortars that can’t count or do math. If you picked a really bad country to invaded you did just that And when I mean that I mean stabilize wise. There uneducated. An nothing to our own. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t people. They function on the same ways we do. So if anything start knocking on door and give your village people a hug. An prey they don’t put a bomb on you. And start finding out which people that want work with you and which people don’t and start marking them out. Find out why they hate you and well find out why they love you there a lot of leg work to be done. Just like any campaign the wars won but the battle far from over. Then build the new base of Iraq around a base and a dream of new Iraq. Put the people that want to work there and the people that don’t away from it. An rather than building around a broke Iraq build around a new one shape on cultural diversity rather than the shambles of what was. An try to make it a safe place so people can function rather than rebuilding something they’re going to tear down any ways. Really if anything you will have to build this country from the ground up and really are you in it for the long haul or you might as well pull out now. |
