Thank you for your service and sharing of your experiences as a Marine, and most importantly as a caring and thoughtful man. This article is exceptionally well written, and causes one to reflect on the truly high cost of war. Thanks again.

THANK YOU! To all who served in Vietnam and during the Vietnam War, THANK YOU! Too little, too late, yes. But those two little words come from the heart.
I have always felt that the men and women who served in Vietnam never got the respect that they deserve, even now. They have my respect, and my thanks.

And that cost just keeps on rising.

Now if Senator McCain would BACK the new GI BIll, maybe HE will remember that high cost as well... and then maybe not.

This is an article about people who died fighting for what they believed to be right. This is not a discussion about your personal gripes.

My point was and is that McCain seems to have forgotten those of us who did serve in Vietnam and in many other Wars and who are disabled as a result of that service. We KNOW what the cost is. McCain does too ... So why then will he NOT sign-on to a Bill that would impact on that "High Cost" of war by enticing good people to serve, thereby justifying that cost and perhaps even helping to reduce it...? Seems rather simple to me.

In this age of minute-by-minute news coverage and stories like these, stories which are both engrossing and serve notice... my comments were completely legitimate to that story, and true.

I am sorry of that offends some, but I am not the only voice "griping" that Veterans take the heat, and then get the SHAFT.

So, as far as the meaning behind my comments? Let's just say I haven't been suspended from this or any other chat board for expressing those views, I look a little deeper into the basis for the story rather than cry alligator tears and post trite platitudes when those who now serve are being ignored, and especially when they come home. I cannot apologize for that, and I can say with complete certainty that I am proud to do so. That someone took me wrong? Well, I cannot do much about that.

I believe you don't understand "me and my kind" because you aren't very bright, frankly.

And you were suspended because you have a big mouth, no tact, and very little tolerance for anyone with a different viewpoint... not to mention you could not and will likely never follow the rules of this place for more than a few days or weeks at best.

I have been to The Wall, several times in fact, as my older brother's name is on it - with hundreds of his fellow 101st Airborne brothers who also met their fate in Vietnam.

But just for those who may also be the target of your invective comments in the future, please tell us who "me and my kind" are, so we will know the proper way to address YOU, k?
