I went to Jackson a long time ago, but I'm sure it hasn't changed all that much. All the females from the whole company were put into one bay. It kind of sucked because it seemed like we weren't on top of things as much as the guys...but we didn't get smoked as much by the DS. We had around 25 females in one room. There was a bathroom on the far side of the room with around 8-10 stalls, 6 sinks, and I think 8 shower heads. The showers were open. It was just a big tile room with shower heads. You stand in line and wait for an open shower. I'm not sure what kind of system is there now, but we had the option of showering after PT or before bed. Showers are QUICK. We weren't timed, but we soon realized that getting everyone a shower in time required some teamwork. No shaving....sometimes you even shared a stall with your battle buddy. It's kind of weird at first, but after a while, it's not so bad. I was really shy and some people were really, really open. Find humor where you can and don't sweat the small stuff...because in Jackson you'll be sweating alot. Jackson was great. Too easy.
At the receiving barracks, there was one huge wall with shower heads sticking out. After we moved to our training barracks, there were 8 shower heads. Four on each side, there was tiled walls in between each stall. At first we used to wait and go in as somebody came out. Then one day everything went to **** and the Drill Sgt. said we had to all be showered and in our PT gear and back on the line in 15min. We were in open bays at the time with four rows of about 10 or 12 beds so that was about 50+ people and 15 min. To expedite things, for the first time we took showers with 2 to 3 in a stall at one time. After that we always shared.
