My daughter just told me today that Fort Bragg is a rapid deployment duty station. Do they always deploy to war zone? My daughter and I have close relationship and I want to support her and I really don't know what to do or say. I am afraid for her safety. I am also afraid for her mental well being. She is so home sick already. How can I help her?

It would be unwise for me to say that Ft. Bragg is a rapid deployment duty station, as I have been out of service for far too long. Know this though, either in this forum or the dependent/spouse area forums you will get ALL the information and help you need to help you through this uncertain time...

We are all here for you and there are many that have first-hand knowledge and will be able to give you helpful advice or be a sounding board for you...

You are not alone, remember that, ok?

For everyone else out there, please give your insight?

Thanks...

Please let us know how your daughter is doing, ok?

Hi there. I am sorry she is homesick already. How long has she been at Ft. Brag?

Just be there for her and keep the communication lines wide open. But don’t your conversations become pity parties as they tend to promote more negativity. Venting is perfectly okay. If it gets out of hand she may become depressed and angry. If she isn’t aware already let her know about this site and the support she can get here.

Mommy,

Fort Bragg is an awesome duty station. I've been stationed here since 2001 (not counting trips to Korea, Iraq and schools). They call it rapid deployment because 82nd Airborne Division is ready to deploy within 18 hours notice. Don't worry though. We deploy with about the same frequency and duration as all the other major bases in the military.

Tell her to find groups in the area that participate in activities she is interested in. There are many outstanding churches if she's into religion (I go to Manna on Cliffdale Road mannachurch.org) There are also gyms off post with awesome classes like aerobics, body pump and spin where you can get fit and meet good friends.

Bottom line is with a post as large and diverse as Fort Bragg she is bound to meet people to befriend if she just gets out and about.

This post is kind of old so how is she doing now anyway?
