Greetings,

Are there female Drill Sgts. at Ft. Benning? I heard from one individual that there may be because a DS is a DS. Though I do not know if that is true because all the recruits there are males.

Thanks in Advance.

Woman in the military sure I’ll buy that. Women in combat I'll buy that to. Now this Seabee has a twist to these entire woman an in the service. Have your own combat units as well as you’re what ever units. You see I have been in war, combat and in traditional real man jobs. If Monty goes down it will take more that a little girl to move me out of hell's gates. I know that unless you can really lift a 6,1 two hundred pound man and carry your extra weight the mod. Is right it is just a pipe dream. To set a bone, drag your*** and fight like you are dying spare me the experience of some French Manicure try to save the Hulk from a seen from the end of the world. Ladies you are not , wait let me get all the way up on the cheat seats and say you are NOT OUR EQUALS.I sure am glad there was not any skirts trying to give me orders in combat because I can tell you, you would not like me very much and like my generation told the US. You want warriors then shut up and let us do what warriors do. If you want sewing circle then sew the crap yourself. God forbid that we ever share the same space in a war. Can you imagine a woman in a fighting situation where the 82 is coming off for support, gun ships going off and the New Jersey and heavy support artillery is all taking place. All I have to say is you better ask somebody before you play wonder woman. Finally, I will not take an order from an idiot let alone a woman. On my watch it will be me and the boys that make all the noise. This topic is done, finished, dead on arrival and what was DOD thinking!!!!!!!!

And just who do you think is flying a lot of those gunships, Monty?

I appreciate your experience and service, but saying you would not "take an order from an idiot let alone a woman" (hinting that they are one and the same) is identical to the arguments put forward in the '40s and '50s about integration of the Armed Forces and commissioning "Negroes."

Get a clue.

You are wrong about the idiot and the woman being the same. An idiot is a person that will risk his mans lives by not using his head i.e. Hamburger hill or the moron that tried to put me and my friends in harm’s way by throwing us back into the fire when our heavy artillery was coming just in a short time---did not need to rush.
Woman, for one it is very hard for a woman to drag someone let alone that task being placed with a full field pack in your hands. Your active, run the drill full field weight and I tell you haul the smallest man or woman fifty yards and see what your times are. I did not mean to put you down because it is what it is. Now on decisions you tell me what kind of differences have you notice under stress when you have to perform. I am not against woman not at all. I am against putting one of our warriors in harm’s way when you have but seconds to bug out. Who would you rather have hulk like me or some petite person drag you, lift you and hook you to a life line? I tell you I have been in both side and when they helped me the bond between me and my friends grew greater. See in war it is not what if but when it happens to you who you going to call. I saw crazy stuff girl in Nam. Saw a friend run head on into a truck and he swore he never saw it. Saw people totally brain dead using only instincts when the pucker ten factors was now. If you feel offended I do apologize but will not change my statement. If I took your orders we would have had to have partied in hell and I would have to have seen how you walked the walk. I'm sorry but we were orphans in Nam and don't need pity just facts.

If my keister is in a sling, I don't care if the person who drags me out is Hulk Hogan or Ballerina Betty - as long as he/she gets me out. Anyone who can do the work ... can do the work.

Men and women both work equally well - or equally badly - under stress and under threat. Sex has little or nothing to do with performance under adverse cir***stances.

With all due respect - and I was there, too - VN was forty years ago and today's military is a different force than we were. In most ways, I submit they are a BETTER force and not carrying sexist baggage along for the ride.

Edited to add: that server censor is REALLY getting annoying.

Monty- What bearing does this have on the OP's question? You need to get with the times respectfully. Dial down the at***ude..

I agree with Cider- today's military is a better force, and not caught up in the sexist mire..

Today’s military is ill equipped and not train for a lifetime. When a Marine sniper went bad and he was looking for you he had the training to do it. When Seabees were given an order hell would freeze over before we went back on the order. When the 82 went into help they did it with pure heart. Now you are not a better force than Nam. Yes fifty nine thousand of us are pasted on a granite wall. But remember the war we fought was a real enemy and China, Russian and North Vietnam were not chump change. However, I will give to you you’re a better military today. Why then are you complaining about 2 and 3 tours? A warrior put on that uniform for those tours.Sex girls is not even the problem, you go get those congressional metals, those silver and bronze and yes even the Purple Heart and we will talk sex. But don't have GW give you a congressional metal when one of my Navy Brothers a Seal fights off a company of rag heads to save your*** and pays the ultimate price. Crap like that is not sexual it is fornication. Yes girl you can be all you want to be but do not, stop let me run up all the way to the cheap seat, DO NOT DO IT AT THE COST OF A BROTHER!! I will be expecting to hear how a young lady attacked a gun in placement as she gave her all for her country. Next time you see a rag head ready to blow himself you go girl jump his ***. Are we going to see equality; I sure hope so. I never got to meet Joan of Arc and I feel incomplete without that experience. While you at it put your sister Jane Fonda in a uniform she has a bill at the BLACK WALL.

I think if women had had the chance in vietnam, ww2, ect, they would have proven themselves capable. Silver star you mentioned, I take it you're ****y about the female recieving it. From what I've read on this board you say she did nothing but what males are doing everyday without notice or awards. Maybe, but then females aren't supposed to be in those position in the first place let alone perform well. Bound to turn some heads.

This female as no desire for combat but their are some tough chick out there that can perform at the same level as man while being put down for their sex all the while.

WE are getting ready to send a few chosen one to Afghanistan. I will be watching the rosters to see how many Francine against how many Joe Bob’s are on the entry forces. If you're one of them than let me man up right now and salute you. Plus my last letter I said run the drill. You're either ten times better than me or we are not listening. I said run the drill why? Was it to see the obvious difference between man and woman? No it was so the body count stops and you people come back home in one piece. You see there was a sign up in the DMZ air strip and next to a bunch of puffed body bags. Said, “Wecme to Vietnam to got thirty seconds to kiss your *** good-bye.

Monty- This nonsence has gone on long enough (I am giving you a ten day warning)This is a discussion area for "Women in the Military" with serious respectful debates.

Step back, read and learn before you post here any further. You can learn much from the people who actually have intellectual discussion.

Back on topic.

Monty- What does this have to do with Female DS at Ft. Benning?

Thanks for the thought though...

OP- Honestly, I can not answer you question. Ft. Benning (GA) is home of the Infantry. You may or may not get a female DS.

Your question deserves an answer though, perhaps you might think of posting this question in the Army Forum(s) or I can move this thread there if you like?
