just that. which do you think is the better company. i am sure they are both quality companies, but USAA seems to fit the bill for me. What are your experiences? USAA or Navy Federal Credit Union? Thanks ahead.
Unless you are in the Navy you can't get a Navy Fed account stateside. I opened mine as soon as we hit port in Rota and had no complaints about them. There loan rates were better then Marine Fed and Wachovia at the time, and I had a better interest on my savings account. I don't know avout USAA.
Actually now NFCU is open to all 4 branches of the military. They recently started allowing Army & AF (I believe May or June). The rules for starting up an account have also changed, you can do so when you go to Boot Camp.
The differences between the 2 is that NFCU actually has places in which you can go in and talk to people, located at or by Naval Bases including OCONUS locations. They are also opening up more locations through out the US which is good. USAA you have to mail in your deposits. Unless you have the deposit at home program, but for that you need a loan, insurance or credit card through them. Some people swear by USAA but we had problems with in the past and will not go anywhere near them.
Both are great organizations, remember that embership in one odesn't exclude the other. you might also consider pentagon federal credit union, open to mil & their families, great rates & service. USAA has many great ools but is tight on loans(my opinion!)
