Today CG-9 awarded the FRC-B contract to Bollinger Shipyards. The parent craft hull is a Damen design, the same folks that brought us the 87 hull.

153.5 feet, MTU engines, Stern launch, and a stabilized MK38 gun.

An allhands email is out and an ALCOAST will follow.

Additional details will be posted to the Acquisitions web site as they become available.

Be safe.

Just add a few meters to the overall length, from their stock patrol boat catalog. An idea of vessel size, but no idea as to the deck house configuration.

The Jamacian CG started using that design a few years ago. I saw one in Kingston. Very nice. The exhaust ports on the quarters were HUGE! Sounded plain ole mean too....

The design is based on Damen's STAN Patrol 4708, here's a link to their web site: "http://www.damen.nl/PRODUCTS/DAMEN_STAN_PATROLS.aspx?mId=8643"

Not much info other than basic specs and a photo of an existing vessel.

You can find a lay out of the ship here.

Hopefully this SRP goes faster than the cutter.

Bollinger builds a great boat, but I sure was hoping BIW would get it. Seems like they are really getting left out in the cold.

Bath Iron Works. Bollinger builds good solid boats/workboats. BIW would build a good ship.

Anecdotally from a shipmate in one of the first FRAM 378s out of Bath. The president of the company supposedly remarked that the CG was 10% of his business and 90% of his headaches. Big Grin

Yes indeed, yes indeed Bosn. The BIW/"East Coast" FRAMS included: HAMILTON, DALLAS, GALLETON and CHASE.

Of course, to this day those four are slight headaches to the MLCs for being just a little different. Wink

My "unbiased" opinion would be that any product from BIW would benefit the USCG. Cool

BIW builds great ships, the USN destroyer fleet is a good advertisment. "Bath Built" was a term used to denote a quality ship.

Just hope the CG gets the specs correct, make up their mind what they want and let BIW do what they do well.

I concur with MasterMate. Looking at that crane daily as a kid and knowing that my parents still work there, would like to make sure they have enough work to last them the next 4-6 years they have left before retirement.

32,

With the proposed DDG-51 Arleigh Burke - Production Restart, BIW (& NGSS Ingalls) could potentially build a few more hulls through 2017... Wink
