This is what you guys wanted. Hope you're happy.
MOSCOW (AP) — Russia showcased its military might and youthful new president to the world Friday, as heavy tanks and missile launchers rumbled across Red Square in a Victory Day parade for the first time since the Soviet era. In a nationally broadcast speech two days after his inauguration, President Dmitry Medvedev avoided the bellicose rhetoric of his mentor and predecessor, Vladimir Putin, who drew parallels between United States and Nazi Germany during last year's parade. However, in his speech marking victory over Adolf Hitler's Germany, the 42-year-old Medvedev said the history of World War II demonstrated that military conflicts are rooted in "irresponsible ambitions which prevail over interests of nations and entire continents." "We must not allow contempt for the norms of international law," he said, in what sounded like veiled criticism of the United States and its Western allies. The Kremlin has consistently criticized both the U.S.-led war in Iraq and wide Western recognition of Kosovo's declaration of independence from Russia-allied Serbia as flagrant violations of international legal norms. A stern-faced Putin, who was named prime minister Thursday, hovered at Medvedev's shoulder on the podium hiding the mausoleum of Soviet founder Vladimir Lenin. His face was prominently shown in TV broadcasts — an image that played to the wide belief the former president will continue calling the shots. Medvedev, his country's third post-Soviet president, hailed the rebuilding Russian military, saying it can "give a reliable protection to the motherland." "Our army and navy are getting stronger. Just as Russia itself, they are gaining strength," he said. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gXioOMzrlU8hO3Hv0w6TFVvtvq7AD90I8FH00 |

You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me. |
If we can stay allies with them there should be no problem with a strong Russia. Its a strong Soviet Union that we don't want.

I'm not worried about the USSR. If they started something anywhere in the world we could respond with one maybe two Battalions of fresh troops, combat ready in two to three weeks anywhere day or night.

NEWS FLASH! The USSR doesn't exist any more. It's now called the Russian Federation. This time, there is more money, more natural resources and more of the rhetoric of fascism, that we've all grown to know and love. Coming to the skies and seas near you!... Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

Read the comments to the first article. and the comments to the second. These two pieces are bright example of rusophob movement, was there before the Soviet Union, stayed there after, it does not matter what line Russia takes, what political climate it has, it was always viewed as an enemy by the West, unless it's in complete shambles, like it was during Elcin era. Their main problem is Russia is strong, or acting like a strong country, or has a better life, or thinks it has a better life, and that is just so terrible, that makes them facists right away. And yes, they dare to intimidate their neighbors, by raising prices on gas and oil, to what the rest of Europe is paying, damned Nazis. Ideally they should love having Nato at their borders, and give oil for free to anyone who wants it. So, Russia is the facist state, because it has issues with it's neighbors as Estonia and Ukraine, that sabotage the celebration of the Victory Day, but giving medals to those that collaborated with Germans during WW2??? Who was the bad guy exactly in that war I wonder. |

Oh, that the United States is going to invade them for their natural resources. Then, let's see there's the one comparing us to the nazis, yeah, that sounds just like the cold war fascist crap style garbage that came out the propaganda mill at the Kremlin... Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |
