Just had one blow out on me the other day, took out the inner finder when the tread left, I will look now, thanks for the heads up... Respectfully, SUNLINER81
I had a similar experience back in 1984 with a new car. I didn't know anything about the date code on tires then, so I have no way of knowing how old my "new" tires were. I bought a brand new Mazda with Goodrich tires on it. A couple of months later while my wife was driving it the tread suddenly started peeling off one of the front tires. This happened in heavy traffic, and could have easily caused a wreck, injuring my wfe, daughter, and who knows how many more. She was fortunately able to maintain control just long enough to change lanes and pull off the road, but not before the loose tread had dented the fender in several places. Neither Mazda nor Goodrich offered any compensation. They wouldn't even replace the one ruined tire. Mazda said the tires weren't covered under the waranty. They said I'd have to take it up with Goodrich. The manager at the local Goodrich store said, "Sorry, but we didn't sell them to you so we can't help you." I complained to Goodrich as far up as the district manager for several southeastern states. His ridiculous excuse was that Goodrich only guarantees replacement tires. He said all original equipment Goodrich tires on new vehicles are made in Japan by an entirely separate company that just pays Goodrich to use their name. I bought four new tires to replace my old "new" tires, and I haven't bought another Mazda or a Goodrich tire since then.
