NKorea threatens US as Washington, allies watch for signs of another missile launch
1 hour, 3 minutes ago

By Hyung-Jin Kim, The Associated Press

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea threatened Wednesday to wipe the United States off the map as Washington and its allies watched for signs the regime will launch a series of missiles in the coming days.

Off China's coast, a U.S. destroyer was tailing a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons to Myanmar in what could be the first test of U.N. sanctions passed to punish the nation for an underground nuclear test last month.

The Kang Nam left the North Korean port of Nampo a week ago with the USS John S. McCain close behind. The ship, accused of transporting banned goods in the past, is believed bound for Myanmar, according to South Korean and U.S. officials.

The new U.N. Security Council resolution requires member states to seek permission to inspect suspicious cargo. North Korea has said it would consider interception a declaration of war and on Wednesday accused the U.S. of seeking to provoke another Korean War.

"If the U.S. imperialists start another war, the army and people of Korea will ... wipe out the aggressors on the globe once and for all," the official Korean Central News Agency said.

The warning came on the eve of the 59th anniversary of the start of the three-year Korean War, which ended in a truce in 1953, not a peace treaty, leaving the peninsula in state of war.

In my opinion, N. Korea is right. Based upon the current gutless whitehouse administration.

They would have too. It's in their best interest economically to protect us from going to war with N Korea.

Ashame we don't have the nads or GUTS and continue to play this game of being Mr Nice nation at the hands of a real enemy who has indeed threatened our nation, which should be taken quite seriously. We are to afraid to do anything because of retaliation from China. This is pretty much a carry over policy from the last administration. 30 years ago, and 1 less "friend" of China and the bombs would be falling and falling hard.

Neither did the one before it, which isn't saying much about the last 16 years.

I've been pleased with the Obama foreign policy. And nothing pleases me more than the present statements of North Korea. They are either going to start something, in which case we can pulverise them, and the Chinese and Russians will say nothing, or the Great Leader is going to have to publicly back down, which by itself might topple him. Either way, that character gives me the heebie jeebies and I would like to see him GONE.

Kim is a madman leading a starving nation and would appreciate losing a few million souls. Its all about blackmail and Bush caved so now there testing Obama. He is dangerous because he needs the blackmail or a war to thin the population. If its war, Preferably a long conventional war since thats one they can survive.

It would take more than 2,000 nukes with at least a war head 20 times larger than the ones dropped on Japan in 1945 to wipe out the United States. Some how I don't think NK has that many Nukes.

An estimated 1000 nukes exploding roughly in the same 48 hour period would cause nuclear winter for this hemisphere - maybe the whole planet -

All Korea would have to do is explode 10-20 nuclear warheads in the ocean at intervals along America's West Coast from the Mexican Border to Canada, and the prevailing winds and weather patterns would do the rest. All of America would be buried in nuclear rain! A direct hit by a nuclear weapon is not its greatest potential for harming an enemy. We were very "humane" against Japan by exploding the two bombs at 1000 feet. If they had been allowed to crater the ground, and loft millions of tons of radioactive dirt into the air, Hiroshima and Nagasaki would still have areas too contaminated to touch even to this day - -

Tomorrow, June 25, will be the 59th anniversary of NK's attack on SK. It's also the 133rd anniversary of Custer's defeat at the Little Big Horn. Perhaps June 25th portends to be a propitious day for Kim Chong-il to launch his attack on the United States.

It is said that Kim Chong-il wrote the lyrics to the following children's song, titled We Have Nothing to Envy in the World

Skies are blue and my heart is joyful.
Play the accordian
Wonderful is my fatherland
Where the people live harmoniously.
Our father is Marshal Kim Il-sung.
Our abode is the bosum of the Party.
We are brothers and sisters.
We have nothing to envy in the world.

North Korea and Kim the Second have little to lose but people. He is unpredictable. It would not surprise me if NK would attack any US or SK military force that attempts to halt or board a NK ship at sea. That would be a provocation tantamount to war. I dare say the US would do the same to any foreign nation attempting to halt or board a US ship at sea (the exception would be Israel which we permitted to attack the USS Liberty with impunity).

Lil Kim has visions of grandeur that are nowhere near reality.

More than likely, it is Kim trying to show his generals that he is tough. Kim knows that any threat he makes to the outside world is pretty much an empty threat. With only a handful of su-37s and their best tank being a t62, there really isn't much he can do conventionally. In fact, one of the reasons the US still has forces in Korea is also prevent South Korea from launching an attack on the North. The South now has a modern military with first rate equipment. As such, there really isn't much of a need for US forces in Korea anymore as the South can defend itself other than to prevent another war between the two Koreas that can end up sucking in the rest of the world. This time, I think Kim bit off two much for his own good. Not even the Chinese or Russians are willing to back him up this time around.
