Hey Pelsar, long time no hear, glad you are alive and well. Hope you can be understanding of the fact that the sailors on the U.S.S. Liberty, have some hard feelings, I mean if someone drops ordnance on your head, no matter who it is, you will have a tendency to be a whole bunch P.O.'d about it... Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

So, what do you think, is Israel getting more than just a little fed up with being rocketed daily and this is a warning to hamas and those that are pulling hamas' strings to knock it off or face justice? Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

In the light of 'taking out their nuclear hoard' stories coming out now. The Syrians should have put a couple of dozen Scuds into Tel Aviv. That would have been the Israeli thing to do. They're 'used to' rockets and they might respect that.
The rest of the Arab world would have noticed. |

The result of such action would have brought war, in which Assad could find himself dethroned and maybe dead, and defeated Syria in ruins. If you hate Israel say so. "Israeli thing to do". You have leveled Afghan for 1 terror attack (as horrible as it was), whereas we suffer Syrian idiocy and terror from 1948. |

For the facts on the Liberty attack, go to the website, ussliberty.org. At this website, you will find a report submitted to congress on behalf of the surviving crewmen from the U.S.S. Liberty.
Contained in this report, you will find the analysis and conclusion reached by a committee that was headed up by the following people: Admiral Thomas H. Moorer,USN ret., Fmr. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Raymond G. Davis, Fmr. Commodant USMC Rear Admiral Merlin Staring, USN ret. Fmr. Judge Advocate General, USN The report was generated in 2003. The report states that the Israelis had the USS Liberty under visual surveilance for over eight hours prior to the attack. The ship was strafed and hit by rockets from several Israeli aircraft that made multiple sorties during the attack. Israeli torpedo boats fired several torpedos, some of which struck the Liberty. The torpedo boats subsequently machine gunned sailors trying to rescue wounded sailors. These same torpedo boats fired their machine guns into lifeboats that were being lower into the water and other lifeboats on the ship. The Libery was also hit with napalm and the communication antennas were purposely targeted to prevent outgoing distress calls. These highly respected and qualified military officers concluded that the attack on the USS Liberty was done so deliberately and knowlingly that the USS Liberty was a USN intelligence gathering ship. Read the report to get a more detailed insight into the events that took place during the attack on the USS Liberty. The report concluded that the incident was a deliberate attack on a clearly identified USN vessel. And that the attack was tantamount to murder. They said that the Liberty was a state of the art intelligence ship, unlike any ship in the Arab navies. |

That would have triggered an Israeli response that Syria would have regretted, as well as Iran when Israel was finished with Syria, they would have crippled Iran. Is the US going to be a panty waste just like they were in the Six Day War when Johnson stood cowardly away making our country look stupid. If we had been in the action, actually kicking the Arab nations' anuses for attacking Israel, a UN member, the Middle East would be different today. It would probably have been more closely related to Germany and Japan under the Marshall Plan. |

Not to disrespect the brave servicemen who died on the Liberty, but how come this info was not relayed to the NSA who conducted an official investigation which concluded that it was a mistake. |

Like the Israeli response that Lebanon was supposed to regret, or the American response that the middle east as a whole was upposed to regret? I'm sorry, but western nations have a sh**ty record with making anyone in the middle east regret anything. Yeah, Assad himslef may regret it, but then Israel will just have a destabilized neighbor with a bunch of people that have nothing else to do besides attack Israelis. People thought Syria has been "finished" half a dozen times over the past 3,000 years. They have a long term view of things. Hanging Assad may scare Assad, but like hanging Saddam didn't "finish" Iraq, it won't "finish" Syria. As far as the rocket attacks, I believe right now most of them are coming from Gaza, even after Israel withdrew, so I understand Israel's frustration. Especially because Israel could shut off electricity (and by extension, water) to that little sh**hole full of ingrates and REALLY make their lives miserable. |

Only ONE MAJOR problemo wid dat: If Syria had fired Scuds into Tel Aviv, Israel would have decided diplomacy was worthless and "invaded" Syria conducting massive amounts of destruction, and Syria KNEW the US would not stand for that Tel Aviv attack against a country(Israel) that was just using its intelligence to preemptively strike a country trying to prepare to attack them. Syria knew they had been busted. As Brittany says,"Oops, they did it again". If Syria and Iran weren't sore afraid of Israel's military power and the know-how to use it EFFECTIVELY, the two coward countries would have long along attempted an all-out attack. In two words: Fraidy Cats |
