"The hero cop who ended the bloody rampage at Fort Hood by pumping four bullets into the crazed gunman even though she was wounded is known for her toughness, friends say.

Before relocating to Texas, civilian police Sgt. Kimberly Munley spent about five years as a cop in North Carolina where she forged a reputation as a no-nonsense officer."

She ended the Fort Hood Massacare. She shot Nidal Malik Hassan four times DESPITE being shot by him. Quick response in about 3 minites. ((Very quick)) She is the mother of a 3 year old. God Bless her and thank you Officer Kimberly Munley. You STOPPED the wanna be jihadists. Your bravery staved off potentially more dead or wounded. Thank You!!

Amazing. It sounds as though she went in on her own. Talk about a severe pucker factor.

Fort Hood Hero Kimberly Munley's Gunfight With Major Nidal Malik Hasan

(Wounded in Both Legs and Wrist, Sergeant Kept Firing)

By SARAH NETTER and ALICE MAGGIN
Nov. 6, 2009

"The Fort Hood massacre ended when Sgt. Kimberly Munley spotted Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan as the alleged gunman was chasing a soldier who was already wounded and trying to shoot him again, officials said today.

Sgt. Kimberly Munley, a cilvilian Fort Hood officer, is being hailed as a hero after taking down alleged shooter Maj. Nidal Malk Hasan during Thursday's massacre.

Munley, the mother of two girls, came upon Hasan after rounding a corner outside the Soldiers Readiness Facility where he had wrecked havoc in a deadly rampage Thursday.

"She fired on him twice and drew the attention toward her. He immediately spun around and charged her," said Chuck Medley, director of emergency services at Fort Hood.

"She fired a couple more rounds and fell back, continuing to fire," Medley said.

Munley was wounded in both legs and her wrist during the close range gunfight, but she stayed upright and kept firing at the charging gunman.

"She struck him a couple times in the upper torso and he went down," Medley said.

"When she rounded that corner she made a split-second decision to put her life at risk," he said.

"If she had not responded the way she had, we would have had an extremely high number of dead and injured," Medley said. "The number of lives that this person saved ... we will probably never know. But there is a lot of ammunition left, a lot of magazines," he said referring to what Hasan was allegedly carrying."

This is an example of true grit. Military personnel are highly decorated for performance of their duties in such a manner.

"As she pulled up to the center, the officer, Sgt. Kimberly Denise Munley, spotted the gunman, later identified as Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, brandishing a pistol and chasing a wounded soldier outside the building, said Chuck Medley, the director of emergency services at the base.

Sergeant Munley — a woman with a fierce love of hunting, surfing and other outdoor sports — bolted from her car, yanked her pistol out and shot at Major Hasan. He turned on her and began to fire. She ran toward him, continuing to fire, and both she and Major Hasan went down with several bullet wounds, Mr. Medley said."

No telling how many lives she saved.
OUT*******STANDING!

No truer words!...
No one seeks the status of "hero"...
When ones training, duty and care for their fellow service members takes over, is when and where the word "hero" comes into existance...
When Soldiers like Audie L. Murphy did what they did, they did it, to stay alive, take care of their brothers in arms and "move forward"...
To say that, is to not denigrate or lessen the word "hero"...
Why does a Soldier fall on a grenade, to save the lives of his or her brothers and sisters?...
There is just "something" in some people, whether upbringing, training or a deep inner sense of self sacrifice for others, sometimes reffered to as "The Love of Christ", that moves them to do what they do...
If we knew what it was, we could bottle it and make a million but, you can't quantify those things...
Let's just say that Kimberly Munley had it in abundance and let her know that we love her, respect her, wish her a speedy recovery and hope and pray for her and her loved ones and may she, as well as the other Brave Heroes, be comforted in the Arms of God's Eternal Love...
Respectfully, SUNLINER81

Those are great sentiments, Sunliner. Another hero, Police Senior Sergeant Mark Todd, was also involved in stopping the murderous swine.

Excerpt from the New York Post:

Todd, 42, arrived on the bloody scene, he said he saw a calm-looking Hasan with his gun drawn and his fingers pointing at people.

"He was firing at people as they were trying to run and hide," Todd said yesterday.

That's when the cop, a retired soldier who now works as a civilian police officer at Fort Hood, said he shouted at Hasan.

"I told him 'stop and drop your weapons.' I identified myself as police and he turned and fired a couple of rounds at me. I didn't hear him say a word . . . he just turned and fired."

His partner had been felled by the suspects' gunfire by the time he was able to squeeze off the first shot from his Beretta.

"Once he started firing at me, I lost track of her," Todd said.

Struck by their slugs, Hasan flinched, then slid down against a telephone pole and fell on his back...

She is not an American Hero. She is just a former North Carolina Police Officer. She did the right thing. The only fault that I have with her is why she didn't put a bullet in his head? I would have.
