'Regrets? I've had a few and for starters, the 'rhetoric'.' The bummer with 'rhetoric', is that if you get used to using it, you start to listen to it. The logical assumption follows that everything is 'rhetoric', and you're immersed in BS.

Maybe GWB means that he should have been using the 'good' kind of rhetoric - the concise, clear, honest kind. Rather than the Claghorn Leghorn and Yosemite Sam varieties.

Great way to run a country. 8 years and two wars late, but that's a problem with slow learners.

So what if GWB talks like that. He is from Texas not harm. And I wish he would stop worrying about other countryies, because they sure as hell don't care about us.

President George W Bush has admitted that his bellicose rhetoric about Iraq encouraged the world to form a mistaken impression of him as a warmonger.

...... And all the while doing the exact same thing with Iran.
Believable? Not on your nelly.

I don't believe Bush to be a Warmonger. Are just calling him a warmonger because he is a Republican or because our country was attacked an "everybody" got caught up in the emotion of it all. And then when we did go to war some people decided that we shouldn't have gone after all....even though it was 2 years later after 9/11 that we went to war.

That's your choice.

No. I'm confirming his bellicose statements show him to be a warmonger, and he is keeping up those bellicose statements whilst at the same time claiming to be something different.
Oh, and another thing, Iraq, the country now being occupied by force, had nothing to do with 9/11.

President Bush is a good man who had the potential to be a good leader. But his decision to invade Iraq was a huge mistake and he has piled on top of that bad decision with many, many more miscalculations and misjudgments.

If he were in any other decision making position decision making position in America (CEO, Head Coach, General) he would be fired.

As it is, he will leave office with the economy a shambles, the country under threat of another attack from al Qaeda and the people much more divided than when he first entered office.

The economy is a multi generational, multi party problem and finger pointing at Bush or anyone else, will not solve it!...

Just to inject a note of reality ... our Seattle medical school has been trying to recruit physicians from Canada ... but the Canadian physicians won't come ... they think America's health-care system is an utter disaster ... and they think the Canadian system is working pretty well ... and that's why our Seattle medical school presently has more than 200 faculty positions advertised ... with few takers.

That is why 6486143's ravings can be ignored ... OldSnipe is simply parroting what he's heard on talk radio ... which these days is mostly propaganda and outright falsehoods ... which most folks are heartily sick of ... I know I am. Frown Mad

President Bush cannot be blamed for all that is wrong with the economy. He has no control over gas prices and any politician would have ignored the housing crises as it bubbled up over the last six years because it made the economy look good.

The President is the Steward of the Economy. Since President Bush often took credit for how his policies had made the economy strong, he should take some blame for the state of the economy now.

He won't, but he should.

No hard data in that NYT story, or in any of the other far-right posts on this topic.

As is typical of smoke-screen propaganda from the far-right *and* the far-left. Roll Eyes

The point is, that we need to stop the "party hatred" that is infecting this nation, because it is literally dead locking us and preventing us from doing what is necessary to survive.
Our enemies and no, I don't mean just those that we have deemed "terrorists" are taking advantage of our parralasis[sp?] and are working and planning our destruction, economically and militarily, while we argue like idiots. We need to act and act now, because the longer we argue and delay our actions, the harder and more painful to us as a nation and a people it will be, to fix all that ails our great nation...

Very well put, SUNLINER81 ... I spaced out your sentences because every one of them IMHO expresses solid common-sense ... and is well-aligned with the recent article by SecDef Gates titled Beyond Guns and Steel: Reviving the Nonmilitary Instruments of American Power. Smile
