Why does Michael Scheur, Glenn Beck's guest, hate the United States of America so much that he wants foreign terrorists to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States, causing the deaths of thousands if not millions of Americans? From the tone of his voice as he said it (the video is available on the Internet), you'd think Mr. Scheur would be glad to help bin Laden and his people smuggle the device into the country and set it off himself, if it met getting President Obama out of the White House.

Reminds me of the old term "Barnburner" - a farmer who is so worked up about the possibility of rats in his barn that he sets the barn on fire himself - and then the wind shifts and burns down his house as well. As he stands among the ashes of his destroyed home, he tells his now homeless and starving wife and children, "Well, at least now we don't have to worry about those rats I think were in the barn anymore."

Not just some, individual Democrats - but ALL Democrats.

In very recent days, it has been revealed that Governor Sanford of South Carolina committed adultry. Governor Sanford is a Republican. Not that long ago, Rudolph Guliani, a Republican Mayor of New York City, threw his wife out of Gracie Mansion, and moved his mistress in to live with him. Newt Gingrich, another well-known Republican, slept with Wife #1 while still married to Wife #1, and then slept with Wife #3 while still married to Wife #2.

Using that same type of stupid argument you've just used (which I will hereby designate "the Proudformermarine argument of Group Actions", that means that all Republicans cheat on their wives (or cheat on their husbands, if the Republican is a woman). Not just some individual Republicans - but ALL Republicans.

I guess if you want to marry someone who wouldn't cheat on you - don't marry any Republicans. Wink

Because, using "the Proudformermarine argument of Group Actions" - ALL Republicans cheat on the person they marry.

If you can't see the lunacy of your post and how it is an oxymoron, in and of itself, amazing!...
The only thing that I can compare it to is the old saying in the military, "NO LIBERTY UNTIL MORAL IMPROVES!"...

Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson, writing for the majority of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1943's West Virginia State Board of Education v. All this blaming the other political party for EVERY PROBLEM in this country and overseas does nothing for this country. Chill out and examine the individual issues, or nothing is going to get accomplished. Because patriotic people from both parties have served and continue to serve in combat zones as we speak.

Democratic Gov. David Paterson ordered Tuesday’s session to break a two-week stalemate and get the Senate moving on issues with June 30 deadlines, including bond financing, municipal taxes and mayoral control of New York City schools.

While each faction appeared to have passed bills by voice vote, Paterson said he didn’t know if they passed anything amid the heckling. He called it disgusting and a dereliction of duty.

“They have clearly forgotten who they serve,” Paterson said. “They will stay here every day until they resolve it.”

Several senators exchanged sharp words in the latest confrontation since Republicans tried to regain a majority with the help of two dissident Democrats, one of whom later flipped support back to his own party. That left both sides deadlocked with 31 votes each.

Tuesday’s brief session was marked by heckling and laughing. Democrats in control of the audiovisual system cut off microphone and camera feeds when Republicans spoke.

Sen. Andrea Stewart Cousins, a Westchester County Democrat, had the podium. Democrats entered the chamber more than two hours early, getting the jump on Republicans who planned to occupy the ornate room at 2 p.m., an hour before Paterson’s scheduled start time. The Democrats briefly locked the doors, barring reporters and the public.

After the doors were unlocked and the Republican-led faction arrived, Elmira Republican Sen. George Winner was denied the podium and directed legislative business from the Senate floor separately from Cousins.

Democrats sat at their desks with hands over their hearts during the Pledge of Allegiance led by Republicans. They stood during their own recitation of the pledge later, as did the Republicans.

At another point, Winner told Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson, a Bronx Democrat who was laughing, “You’re out of order.”

Hassell-Thompson replied, “You’re out of order. Don’t you dare tell me I’m out of order.”

Winner said he didn’t have copies of legislation from the governor’s office, consisting of some 95 bills, including 36 extending or increasing municipal taxes and aid set to expire Nov. 30.

Sen. Malcolm Smith, a Democratic leader, said he also didn’t have the bills, and they needed to sort it out with Paterson. Cousins ruled the session would stand at ease. Republican Winner ruled the session adjourned.

“It’s chaos,” said Blair Horner of the New York Public Interest Research Group.

I figured as much ... the stunt was pulled to establish who had the authority to start proceedings in the chamber, and although it was a circus, it did not indicate greater disrespect from one party over another ... although it made great YouTube fodder for those perpetually "outraged by the outrage". Cool

Even though I laughed when reading this, I would hope they acted more professionally when on the tax payers time. Just MHO, nothing more.

I mean this for both parties.

I wonder when the democrat party turned Anti-American. They use to be for the country with the exception of a few. Now the entire party is Anti-American and the GOP in congress just sits back and scratches their butts. What has happened to American Pride in America?

Nice of you to stick the "anti American" label on people with whom you have an ideological difference. What makes "liberals" anti-American in your narrow world view? Because they believe in a different direction for the country that THEY LOVE? What about that is anti-American? What tired rhetoric...

You know, I had a similar thought some time ago:

When did the Republican Party become so anti-American, so un-American?

Then, as a student of American history, I realized that there has been a strong streak of elitism in the Republican Party since it's inception in 1856, carryed over from it's distant ancestors, the Whigs and the Federalists. Alexander Hamiliton, the founder of the Federalists distrusted the average American (the "great unwashed" as he sometimes called them) and believed that the general mass of people should quietly and meekly follow the lead of their "betters" - much like many Republicans today.

The Federalists, the Whigs and the Republicans have always been the party of businessmen and business owners (not of workers) and of those who feel themselves morally superior to the common herd (i.e. Newt Gingrich, who after three divorces and cheating on his first two wives now promotes himself as a "guardian of family values").

I would love for you to make that statement to the Democratic members of the United States Senate, who hold the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross respectively. We'll see just how far that one gets ya!

You know, you people on the Right never cease to amaze me. And amazingly, you continue to get away with Dem-Bashing. But why am I not surprised about this? If I were to call a Republican or Conservative either a piece of garbage, or a libturd (POS), or libtard (retarded), but in this case being the conservative model, I would most likely be suspended or banned from this site. Can we surmise friends in high places Confused

And no, whining about being called a NeoCon doesn't mean anything negative or insulting. It's simply short form for Neo-Conservatism. So there's no retort on that one!
