I can't find the story! Eek

How can I flame you, and call you a troll without the evidence? Big Grin

I'll say one good thing about Cheney, for a very brief time he embarked on a one man crusade to knock off the lawyers - But the liberal media made such a big deal over one measely lawyer that he shot, that he had to abandon it.

Now Dave, go to the web site listed and sroll down until you find
NPC Luncheon with Vice Pres. Dick Cheney

click on it, I just double checked it, I use "Real Player" but it will open in several other formats as I understand it. His ending remarks about being related to Obama and Mrs. Cheney's search of the family history, and his comments about not being from West Virginia has been on a lot of the talking heads shows. That part is very funny.

That is, in this old soldier’s N2BHO, the way is or at least the way it should be.

If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

For those interested, you can skip the first 14 minutes, as it is introductions of the Gerald Ford board and who was there at the head table with the VP.

When the VP was the SECDEF, the wife and I would listen to him and comment on how articulate, thoughtful, calm and reasonable he seemed. We also thought that, perhaps, he would make a good presidential candidate.

Fast forward. He still has the old charm and wit, and appears to be reasonable, thoughtful, and calm. Even great sense of humor.

With that said, still no fan of the man, but the administration’s supporters and detractors could take a lesson from him. Strident and loud name calling and bickering are in stark contrast to the man. Many here could take a lesson from him. And that means both sides of the aisles.

And for those interested in the Obama remarks, starts about 3 minutes before the end.

I'm going to have to reboot into OS 10 to access this link. My old browser just wont cut it. Even so, regarding Cheney's curtesy - Wasn't it him who said **** you to someone on the floor of the Senate? Big Grin

Didn't say that he can't drop the mask in a heart beat. He does have a way with words, unlike the president. It's just that being the VP, an advisor to the president and not in charge of anything, and not wanting to be elected to anything, he can say what he wants. Charm can be turned on and off at will. Remember, I am no fan of the man. But his remarks about being a cousin 8 times removed from Mr. Obama was rather amusing!!

Thanks for taking the effort to note the time marks.”
I told you, “love him or hate him – it’s interesting!

Remember with Cheney, Powell and Schwarzkopf conducting news conferences it was always interesting.

Ok, I finally saw the tape.

Who can deny that Mr. Cheney is a clever man, who thinks well on his feet?

I tend to regard him however as a fanatical believer of the worst kind - A man who believes his own propaganda. Who creates and puts out phoney news, and then when hearing it repeated, regards that very repition as proof that he was right.

Such personalities can destroy a country in a heartbeat.

Long, long after his claim of a biological weapons factory was debunked, he just kept on repeating the claim - More or less like some everready battery that can't be shut off.

Was he lying? I've come to believe he simply believed his own claim, and found proof in the very stories he planted.

All this is fun and games when I'm working in a boiler room, and the super is the same kind of guy - But it's not fun and games when it's done by the Vice President of the United States.

Remember all I said was, that it was interesting.

Everyone who views this video or listens to the political candidates (of any party in any election) should be reminded that it is not what a person says or how well he says it - it what he does and what he is able to get done and what he will or will not compromise to get it done.

Some wisdom:

  • If you make a deal with the devil be prepared to spend time in hell.
  • Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
  • Making promises is easy; keeping them is what is hard.
  • Most people who tell you what you what you want to hear; generally do what they want to do.

To WV-ites, snipes at inbred/incestual relationships are NOT funny, which is what the VP was trying to achieve. It's a stereotype of inbred hillbillies that has long since been proved to be a fraud.

Put more simply, it's just not funny, though it tries to be at the expense of others. He should be above that sort of nonsense.

If you didn't think it was a little funny, you wouldn't have said the above.

You did notice that the entire room laughed, right?

It might not be your preferred humor, or mine. But, tell that to Jeff Foxworthy (millionaire) and his zillions of fans around the world.

    Again, you said:

    Aw, you're no fun!
The best joke I ever heard was about pilots.
A flight engineer was sitting between the pilots on a C-54 and the co-pilot was working a cross word puzzle, never mind flying, anyway, the co-pilot asks in general, "What's a five letter word for an idiot?", to which the flight engineer, without hesitation and without skipping a beat, replies, "Pilot"...
    Now, that's funny stuff!...

"Power Corrupts. Absolute power is kind of neat." -- John Lehman, Secretary of the Navy, 1981-1987
