Republicans wrested political control of Virginia from the Democrats on Tuesday, while in New Jersey exit polls showed unpopular Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine locked in a close race where independents were heavily favoring his Republican challenger.

Republican Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell’s victory in Virginia over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds was a triumph for a GOP looking to rebuild after being booted from power in national elections in 2006 and 2008. Republicans also won the races for Virginia attorney general and lieutenant governor.

The outcome was a setback for the White House in a swing state that was a crucial part of Obama’s electoral landslide just a year ago. The president had personally campaigned for Deeds.

Are you kidding? You really thought Virginia was a democrat state? A democrat governor does not a democrat state make - especially when you consider the overwhelming majority of state legislators are anything but democrats, and have been for years.

Yeah but, New Jersey?...
Unless ACORN has the dead voting again and has "pirated" absentee ballots and people who never even requested an absentee ballot, suddenly found they voted by absentee ballot and not for the candidate of their choice, seems that New Jersey just went REPUBLICAN...

Like it is supposed to be so unheard of to have a republican govenor in NJ.

Ever hear of Christie Whitman?

Two terms I think and as I remember it was during the time Bill Clinton was in Office.

Governorships change all the time, especially in NJ and VA. The3 important race was in NY-23, and that going Democrat in a district that has been Republican over 100 yrs, and has been the target of every radical right wing group from the tea baggers to Sarah Palin, to Glen Beck, to Rush Limbaugh. The right-wingers lost there, and lost HUGE considering everything, and goes to prove that the American voter is more middle of the road and moderate than anything else, and dont care at all for radicals, right or left wing.

Neither governor race a statement against President Obama, but NY-23 was, and a Democrat won.

The Press Secretary said no big deal.... no ones worried...

let us now see how many of those who are not worried jump the SS Obama.
And if they really are not worrying, then that is a good thing. Why you ask? How better to kick their azz then when their heads are stuck deep in the sand.

And when’s the last time Virginia voted in a governor from the same party as the President? Can any of us remember? Were any of us alive?

The topic title starts off right, but, in true spinmeister form the poster quit while he was ahead. The title should be:
....Virginia is just the first. Too bad New Jersey’s the last, with nothing in between!

About what? I don’t even live on that coast! I’m about 2900 miles away, so it’s not a lot of skin off my nose.

Take a look around and weep...
The democrats are reeling, trying to figure out what happened, since "the Obama" himself campaigned for the governors of Virginia and New Jersey...
The bloom is definately off the Obama rose...
IMHO...

I see conservatism is winning in Maine as well...

Maine Voters Reject Gay Marriage Law

quote:
PORTLAND, Maine -- Maine voters repealed a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed, dealing the gay rights movement a heartbreaking defeat in New England, the corner of the country most supportive of gay marriage.

Gay marriage has now lost in every single state -- 31 in all -- in which it has been put to a popular vote. Gay-rights activists had hoped to buck that trend in Maine -- known for its moderate, independent-minded electorate -- and mounted an energetic, well-financed campaign.

of course the vote in the 23rd was decided by only 4000 votes. hardly any "mandate"
New Jersey is the real story considering all the fake absentee ballots by ACORN
