I love these stories! They need to do more reporting like this!

The next challenge was getting Ahaip and his father to al Sadr Hospital, but the pieces fell into place after the Soldiers explained the situation to Multinational Force - Iraq Commander Gen. David H. Petraeus.

"He asked if there was anything we needed. He said this is exactly the type of thing we needed to be doing and volunteered his own aircraft ," Capt. Hathaway said. "The aircraft was provided by Multinational Division - Center, but Gen. Petraeus' offer really said a lot about how important this mission had become to everyone."

It may be that he is a self-promoter, but no unambitious man ever got four stars. This sort of thing, which he doesn't expect to get press coverage, has to be taken into consideration too. Cool

I never understood why the cable news couldn't at least highlight ONE good story for every ten negative ones they do. . . seriously, how tough can it be?

Oh yeah, . . . they have to want to . . . Frown

That is such a great thing. True heroes. God Bless them and keep them safe so that they can return home.

Ma'am, I am sorry to say that while the media is partially at fault, the public hasn't exactly been clamoring for the stories either. As long as they are profit centers of an entertainment medium, they will provide entertainment and not education, even if we need to learn something very badly. Cool

Yes, you are very correct. The public would rather see Britney Spear's latest fiasco than meaningful good news. Sad, sad state of affairs.

To tell the truth, some days I wonder if our nation, in its current state, is worth the sacrifices made on its behalf. . . . Frown

If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

Now there is a man who does good deeds without all the self congratulations of an egoist! Good deeds done in private and without expectation of a reward are of the highest kind. Everyone should join an organization that does that type of deed. Join Rotary, Shiners, or other similar organizations. The self satisfaction of doing for others greatly outweighs any self publicity.
