Why change a good thing? As a Nam combat vet there was nothing Ma Duece couldn't do. From a quad mount on the Gun Trucks to squeezing off a single round and nailing a paper plate a quarter of a mile aaway from atop an M113A the raw power was awesome and what a sense of security it was? If weight is a problem then perhaps our troops should be in better physical shape and spend less time on computers.

Probably because some contractor is seeing $ signs in trying to talk some military folk into what he thinks is a good idea.
Like the B-52, like the M113..upgrade if needed but leave it alone. Bottom line. A .50 round on target speaks volumes. |

I've seen it in another place...maybe the Barrett website. Think this is Afghanistan. If its the same one, the target is hiding behind a rock. You hear the shot, see the rock split, and the guy falls out. Need more than a rock to stop an M2 round... |
