International rights groups have accused the kingdom, the birthplace of Islam, of applying draconian justice, beheading murderers, rapists and drug traffickers in public. So far this year about 40 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia.

In Saudi Arabia, crucifixion means tying the body of the convict to wooden beams to be displayed to the public after beheading.

Abuse and murder of children is one area where I have NO personal compunctions about "cruel and unusual punishment".

These are aspects of not only Islamic law but of early Jewish law and also of old Europe. Chinese law isnt as "brutal" in its application but is still quite final in its result.

We need tougher laws here on people who are convicted (especially with DNA proof). If we did, then maybe people would think twice before doing something stupid.

If he got a fair trial and is really guilty I have no problem with this. The problem is determining if he is really guilty or just an easy target.

As to sharia law, even a broken clock is right twice a day, and it must be one of those times. Wink
