After years of war, thousands of casualties and billions spent, al Qaeda is still a threat to the United States, and getting more dangerous.
Until we get military and political leadership that understands the enemy, America will continue to be threatened by radicals who live in remote villages and caves, no matter how big the defense budget gets. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/ny-usqaid065566...eb06,0,6236344.story “WASHINGTON - A steady stream of Western recruits to al-Qaida camps on the Pakistani border bolsters the group's ability to strike the U.S., the nation's top intelligence official said yesterday. Those camps are preparing recruits to launch terror attacks around the world, and are also a staging ground for assaults on neighboring Afghanistan, said National Intelligence Director Michael McConnell. "Al-Qaida is improving the last key aspect of its ability to attack the U.S.: the identification, training and positioning of operatives for an attack on the homeland," McConnell testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee.” |

Whatever happened to the good old days when if a soldier was operating out of uniform he was interrogated and summarily executed?
