"Our research suggests that inequality takes a greater psychological toll on liberals than on conservatives," the researchers write in the June issue of the journal Psychological Science, "apparently because liberals lack ideological rationalizations that would help them frame inequality in a positive (or at least neutral) light."

Relatively old news, ABI. There was quite a long thread on it in p/cp, about 10-12 pages back.

Actually I am happy for the following reasons:
1 I am an American and an American Soldier.
2 I am in good health and have a great family!
3 I am supportive of my country's laws, Constitution which makes this country GREAT!
5 I am not rich, monetary wise, however, God has given me common sense and my country has provided me with opportunities.
Lastly, it' comforting to know that liberals are relatively small in numbers!!!!

This thread reminded me of stanza in an old poem -

...Yet ah! why should they know their fate?

Since sorrow never comes too late,

And happiness too swiftly flies.

Thought would destroy their paradise.

No more; where ignorance is bliss,

'Tis folly to be wise...

By Thomas Grey in 1742.

It appears that conservatives are happier since they find it easier to rationalize, which is a form of denial. Since right wingers like Airborne live in fairly constant denial [liberals are a very small group? In your dreams, my friend], these results shouldn't surprise anyone. Cool

Do you understand what that means? It's basically saying that liberals have more of a conscience.

Conservatives do not hold the majority in American society. They never have - in fact, if that had ever been the case, we'd likely still be a British colony.

LOL, your response is actually you projecting your own rationalization as to why you're not as happy. Wink

Ahhh, so that explains why liberals are so IRRATIONAL!

I know plenty of "conservatives" or right wingers who are DIRT POOR; so explain how are they happy?

Perhaps it's called being "greatful?"

You know what is more ironic, is the fact that liberals are apparently really upset about inequality, however, they do little to resolve it to include reaching for their own wallets.

Most conservatives I know that aren’t bitter, angry, and unhappy seem to live in a world of disillusion just like it was pointed out in the article (Iraq was involved in 911, the surge is working even though the most important part of the surge the Iraq government getting their act together is not happening, the economy is fine I haven’t lost my home and who cares about other people that would be the true Christian thing to do but I’m a Christian in name only just like Pat Robertson).

Conservatives won’t be happy until they make everybody else just as miserable as they are.

Conservatives are a bunch of bitter, angry, unhappy, and disillusioned people.

I don’t think ABI understood the article. It actually slams conservatives for living in a world of make belief trying to pretend everything is alright.
