Man, if you don't KISS the right *&^ or have the right views and... you have a military background, WATCH OUT!!! They will FIND somebody to SAY anything to bring you down. So he was a POW for how many years? Sold folks out, how? With his father being in the military and I think a General, couldn't he have gotten himself a LOT better circumstances or released? |

His father was Admiral McCain and I beleive he was ComPac during the Vietnam War. The story being told in some circles is that Senator McCain used that to his advantage by securing better treatment than other POWs. I'm not saying I believe it. In fact McCain has always been forthcoming about his experience as a POW even going so far as saying he can't quite reconcile what he told the Vietnamese but this was after unbelievable torture. From what I've heard everyone talked...it was only a matter of when. I'm inclined to give the man the benefit of the doubt. |

McCain's spokesman, B.J. Boling, said McCain never passed military information to the North Vietnamese. He said the campaign was publicizing the mailer "to serve as an example of how we can bring these shadowy groups out into the open."
That's 'Pure Bullshit'! McCain not only gave the North Vietnamese information on the Carrier he flew from, but also information on the USS Forrestal! McCain was 'Singing' as he hit the water! The Crown Prince, as Hanoi referred/refers to him, made sure that Hanoi knew he was the Son and Grandson of Admirals! The Russians took good care of McCain when he was in Hanoi! If you look at the pictures of his recovery, in the Hanoi Hilton, you will see that John was well taken care of. Clean Sheets, nice mattress and pillow. How many others were treated that well? Only John and the so-called Peace Committee. Check the return Pic's from Operation Homecoming! It was once said that John weighed more on his release then on his capture! There were and are many former POW's that pushed to have McCain and those of the Peace Committee brought up on charges! Having two Admirals in the Family killed that! I believe that if you check, you will find that John McCain was the one most responsible for having the Former POW's Debriefings Classified! I wonder why, and what he feared from there release! Whenever Hanoi has a request, John McCain and John Kerry lead to give them support! During the Select Committee Hearings in the early 90's, McCain gave support and hugs to Hanoi's Representatives, yet chastised and ridiculed POW/MIA Family Members and Supporters. With McCain and Kerry's Leadership the Committee suppressed information on Live POW's! McCain, like Kerry are, are not fit to be Senators let alone aspire to be President! |

I have heard these rumors before, including on these boards. But I wonder how true any of them are. You would think that if he had done any of what these people claim, it would have come out in some way, by someone who was there years ago. I do not agree with all that Senator McCain believes in, but I doubt very much he was any kind of traitor, or aided the enemy in the way that this group is claiming. It seems like strange timing, with him in the lead in the primary, that suddenly all this so called information is leaking out.

One point that was repeatedly made when the Vietnam POWs came home; everybody breaks, eventually. The Code of Conduct was modified to reflect this. Rather than giving up NO information, POWs were to resist to the best of their ability and give out the least valuable information they could.
FWIW, how does this square with the "Torture Does Not Produce Reliable Information" Mantra? |

These allegations are 'deja vu' with a twist of lefist, but are certainly worth looking into.
Personally, I do think John is healthy enough for the CIC position, but his views on terrorism and its eradication are right on target. |

The reality of that, I believe is incorrect. If you look at any photos of POW's in Hanoi, published by the NVA you will see the same conditions. Why ? It was a photo op for the NVA to show how 'humantarian' they were . As soon as the cameras were out of the room the POW's treatment went back to normal . If we treated the current 'detainees' in Gitmo to treatment similiar to what are POW's recieved they would be eating pumkin soup, no meat and not, not allowed to have korans, prayer mats etc. |

It is always amazing to me that stuff about someone's military service surfaces during a political campaign. McCain has not been a POW for almost 35 years. The stuff being written has no creditability to me. The trial is cold folks. Let it go.

I'm not a McCain supporter and I say these allegations are preposterous! There is so much information out there to the contrary that I don't know how anyone could believe the negative stories. Dirty, mudslinging politics is BS disgraceful from either side. To besmirch a mans honorable military record is lowlife. I despise John Kerry and thought the treatment of his military record by opponents was despicable.

Man what they did to him then was horrible, I LOST a little respect (VERY little), when he "forgave" them but I kinda understand why. Now this? I'm not even a supporter of the guy and the outcome of this will MORE than likely benefit those I would but this has to stop. Problem though, it works and FOLKs ALLOW it to happen, so it will continue. He was a POW then and he's being treated as a P risoner O f a W itchunt NOW. These CLOWNs can't win no otherway APPARENTLY, so why not BEAT his @##$ some more? |

I would like to see these pictures...are they anything like the pictures Americans used to get from the Germans during WWII showing American service men eating 3 meals a day? Having Christmas Turkey? An Easter ham? How about the pictures the Iraqi's sent out of our captured airmen and ground pounders having scones and tea? If you truly belileve propaganda from an enemy source then I will say this to you....you owe me 100$ and this is true, email me an I will give you an address to send it to. |

Sorry SG, wrong CROWD seemingly. It looks to be the same characters that Jumped Him back in 2000 and since it worked then... I'll BET it's the SAME folks that wear FLAG Lapel Pins and HAVE Yellow Magnets on the back of the vehicles, "W" bumper stickers... it has to be the SAME crew? There's elements that rather have ANYone but McCain as President, for HE'LL run the party and probably run their buts out of it? |

Allegations will be just that "Allegations". Many have hit the nail on the head, in that "someone has an axe to grind". If anyone has read the book (In the presents of mind Ememies) they'll understand how a POW can be made to say things. A person can be brought to the brink of death, and they could unknowingly make a statement. Some made statements like "I know Dick Tracey is a spy." Basically saying anything for some momentary relief, but later being beat silly.

You got it. For political ineptness of an adversary and political expediency, this is what you get. When they can't defeat you with THEIR own beliefs or their OWN RECORDs... They attempt to DEstroy yours. It works, we're a WIN at ALL costs (at some of the highest levels), if you ain't trying to cheat to win you ain't trying to win, immediate gratification,...
