Senator Lieberman tells it like it is:

quote:
Joe Lieberman has once again rolled a political hand grenade into the Democrats’ tent.

The Connecticut independent obliterated any illusion that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) can quickly ram through health care reform with a public option, telling reporters on Tuesday that he would join Republicans in a filibuster to prevent a vote on Reid’s plan if it isn’t changed first.

“We’re trying to do too much at once,” said Lieberman, who signaled he would vote with Reid on the first procedural vote that requires 60 votes, the motion to proceed.

“To put this government-created insurance company on top of everything else is just asking for trouble for the taxpayers, for the premium payers and for the national debt,” added Lieberman, whose state is headquarters to many of the nation’s biggest insurance companies. “I don’t think we need it now.”

So what Korn, and the trial lawyers are huge financial supporters to the Dems and so we don't see any regulation over them with regard to health care do we?

You can't act like all parties do not have a personal motive and agenda.

Add that with quite a few Democrats in the Senate as well.

Is is utterly simple. In many states, if a Dem does not want re-election, go for it, i.e. the Dem. Health Care Plan.

Being super critical, State Farm is out of Bloomington, Illinois. United American out of Texas. Each State has a Insurance commissioner so each State is independent of the next. State Farm Home Insurance because the commissioner disallowed rates to increase 300% because we might have a hurricane, left the State of Florida. Each insurance agency is approved and listed in the different States. How well that will work with a national health (public) option policy is anybody's guess. Presently each State has their own plan, that's why the arguement on people walking around without insurance is a fallacy. I rehearsed TennCare coming out with a plan similar with public option and the State could not keep up with the increase coverage, thus using the privates as secondary, or cancelling, the State is trying to find a way of staying solvent. Other States, other plans, have become guarded but still in business.

This country cannot stand taking over another industry.

BTW the downfall of GM was partially due to the fact they were heavily invested in mortgages and along with State Farm were in the banking industry. Seems odd that they survived while over 120 banking chains have failed or forced by the federal government to close their doors.

The worst part of what you've posted Korn, is that it's unclear who is who anymore! Frown

Add that with quite a few Democrats in the Senate as well.

Talk is cheap...let's see how they vote. I suspect most will vote to prevent filibuster, and then vote against the bill...some may be on their last term now and don't even realize it.

If the best Democrats muster is "most" ... they won't break a filibuster and have a chance for a straight up or down vote on the bill.

Well I for one say make them actually do it, call their bluff make them play Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith goes to Washinton, I say that they don't have to guts, balls or endurance to actually sit there and "debate" this or any other thing for days on end.

Pandering to the other side who ever that other side is becasue they can do something that they have never shown the willingness to actually do has to end.

If they want to debate from now until valentines day every day all day (and night) long fine I say that within hours or a few days at most they will give up on it.

That is how things got done in LBJ and Tricky ***** day and that is how it is supposed to be!

"The Hartford" kind of says it all for the Senator. The man is a kept, big-insurance trollop.

That would be a good point if it wasn't for the fact that Reid and Dodd have both gotten more money from the Insurance Industry than Lieberman.

Well, that and the fact that the Hartford only offers supplemental health insurance to seniors who have Medicare. So, they would probably make more money if a Public Option is passed by offering more supplemental coverage.

Thanks for playing.

I'm referring to Democrats who are making noise noises that they may join Republicans in a filibuster. I wasn't referring to Republicans; Republicans are not in play...they're a foregone conclusion.
