There's an important letter today from the CDC, titled Dear Colleague Joint Letter from AAFP, ACOG, AMA and CDC: Vaccination of Pregnant Women.

The letter reminds everyone that for pregnant women the risks of severe illness or death from H1N1 flu are six-fold multiplied.

There is ample vaccine available already for every pregnant woman.

It's your choice ... best make it an informed choice.

That's today's message jointly from:
  • American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP),
  • the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG),
  • the American Medical Association (AMA), and
  • the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Great post, usmc_family. The mortality rate for pregnant women who get H1N1 flu is 40%.

That sure got my attention when I heard it, and saw the evidence to back it up.

Thanks, Cider33_Alpha. I think your mortality rate is over-stated, but still ... moms-to-be need to know the facts and make good choices.

So ... bump ... the only thread on the form where everyone agrees!  Smile Smile Smile

That's a CDC/DoD/WHO statistic based on mortality rates in Mexico last spring. The actual rate is 39.something percent. I rounded up.

John, thanks so much for sharing this link. We will be posting the link and information on other military.com forums. It could save lives and misery for many families.

Again, thanks my good friend and greetinga, to the family.

Please don't forget to join in on my birthday celebration on November 10th. I think there are other events going on that same day. Big Grin

most doctors would not be vaccinated with any vaccine if they could avoid it swine flu vac has a history of guillen barre syndrome attached to it most vaccines are contaminated by other virus' and germs and may cause EBV or autism and a multitude of secondary problems far worse than the disease they are protecting you from. Do your research

You are very wrong. My doctor friend is trying to get his daugher the vacine. Recent reseaerch found the the incident of Gullian Barree syndrome is the same as for the general populcation. There is not spike. All scientific research has found not relationship to autism from vacinnes. The doctors and nurses I know are getting the seasonal and H1N1 flu vacinnes as soon as they can.

I have had flu shots for years without problems. I had my shot a few weeks ago and I am waiting on the H1N1 as soon as I can get it. You have presented information without facts.
