According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment has risen to 10.2%.
A total of 195,000 more jobs have been lost, however the total jobs Obama saved are now estimated to be the total number of people who are still employed... More false hope and loose change... This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kegler300, "The World's Finest" |

This will put a bit of a damper on the so-called health care reform.

When outsource/shipped your manufacturing capabilities oversea and hire Illegal Aliens for cheap slave labor for the corrupt Corp that still as any manufacturing facilities this is why we have high unemployment!!! And then on the other side of the political fence you put so much tax and restrictions on the Ma and Pa businesses they either are bankrupt or can't hire anyone!!!

President Obama is now saying that when he gave his weekly radio address on the stimulus bill there was a malfunction in his teleprompter. When he said that without this bill unemployment would reach 10% he didn't realize that the teleprompter dropped a zero off of that number. What he meant to say was that unemployment could reach 100% "if we don’t act swiftly and boldly". |

Two other numbers from October are interesting. Employers shed another 190,000 jobs ... so we continue to go down hill although not as fast. Average worker hours per week remained steady at 33 ... that suggests that demand is not increasing.
Plus ... productivity jumped at a 9.5% annual rate. In short ... more output with less workers. Doesn't bode well for a decline in unemployment anytime soon. |

but hey, we can just keep giving folks unemployment for another year. Obama just said on TV that these unemployment benefits will help stimulate the economy. He said his new bill wont create any new deficit because he already borrowed that money in his stimulus that said if passed will keep unemployment under 8%
Funny how the tragedy at Fort Hood got 37 seconds of his attention while his self glorification got 5:22 during his press conference just now on TV. Its amazing how he is able to lie his butt off with a straight face. |

The benefits won't create any new deficits but they also won't payback the money we borrowed in the first place.
The stimulus is a temporary jobs bill. Once the money runs out, so will most of the jobs. It hasn't worked to this point, so how is it supposed to work in the future? Imagine how much $787 Billion in tax breaks for small business and middle income families would have stimulated the economy. |

It is unfortunate that the CIC doesn't seem to grasp what more money, i.e. lower taxes and less government spending, in the hands of all Americans would do for the economy. TT |

10.2% is unacceptable by any standard, this is now a depression in my opinion and the inflation through higher interest rates has not even set in yet, plus we have the affects of cap and trade and the commie healthcare still to go...Rough times ahead, the Dems are sinking our ship...SOS!

He does grasp it which is why he gave you a 15 dollar a paycheck tax cut. He knows how to spend our money. We don't. In fact there are many on this site who agrees with that last statement. Not me though. If the government would give more of my money back to me instead of others (after the gov skimmed their cut) I would spend it wisely... which is to say...however damn well I feel I need too. |

What the "statistics" don't show is all of those that have given up looking or have gone past their alloted benefits and have fallen off the accounting roles...
I would guess and yes, I am guessing, that the actual umemployement rate is somewhere near 17% to 20%... Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

Govt caused depression, clearly they have done little to stop the downturn and have focused on petty politics over the needs of the country first, sad indeed...And they wonder why they are not liked in the polls. Giving more handouts to those who do not create or offer employment is just absurd, they need to help the business realm expand through tax cuts or what ever it takes to get our neighbors, friends, and family members back to work in long term employment, anything less is unacceptable like what we have been seeing take place, eventually the unemployment bennies run dry since they can't offer handouts for ever...I hope someone will tell the President that people just don't want and can't afford his greenie crap like solar panels for their homes nor can most afford all the organic crap the hippies want us to eat! |

The Obama solution still remains more spending and more debt. Don't try this at home...

When will the politicians in Washington, D.C., realize what some of the American people realize, that unless we return our manufacturing jobs to the U.S. and retire the national debt, there will be no recovery...
