Sounds like the old bat went for a drive down memory lane and ran out of gas in the vicinity of the 1960s. Roll Eyes

Throughout the World; we have "nut-case-Individuals who blame America to get their Name in the News!

"He would probably not last long, a black man in the position of president. They would kill him," Lessing said in the interview published Saturday."

"Lessing, 88, who won the Nobel Prize for literature last year, is known for her fierce and sometimes contrary statements."

"In October, she told a Spanish newspaper that the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks were "neither as terrible nor as extraordinary" as many people think."

Problem is - The Editors that believe this "disrespecting America rhetoric" is worthy of the Headline! Would these "same Editors" print the Swedish originated "Mohammed Cartoons? I don't think so! Thus, our (USA Today Editors) bias AGAINST America is rather obvious in my mind!

Whether, he becomes President or not; I'm quite sure the overwhelming Majority of Americans don't want Senator Obama to be assassinated!

But, we do have some nut-cases! I ask, -- ISN'T this Ms Lessing, PROOF that Sweden and Britain, ALSO, Must ENDURE their own nut-cases?

The difference being is America's Editors believe the "nut-cases" are worthy of the Headlines. When, that's not necessarily true there!

I don't care if Barack is Black, a Jew or a Muslim, smokes Mary Jane, has an affair with Cindy Sheehan and loves Hanoi Jane. If he can just do three things for this country than I will support him as long as he lives.

1. Bring respectability back to America.
2. Bring respectability back to our Congress and Senate.
3. Give our Senior Citizens and middle class hope for a better future.

Well, friend Duster: I'm not sure that Obama is the guy to do it, but one thing's for damned sure - status quo is not the way to go.

That'd be a nice campaign slogan, wouldn't it?

I hope whomever wins this election stays nice and safe,I think most people of sound mind want the same. Personally I dont agree with democrats and I dont want them in the White House, but I dont want our country to endure that again. I'm not quite old enough to remember JFK-it happend about 2 yrs before I was born, but it certainly only weakend our strength and unity. God bless all the canidates in the race, even if I dont like some of them.

Given the number of people who contend that he is a Muslim, and the existance of such groups as the KKK I do not think it is such a stretch to think that there will be at least one serious attempt on his life. And most people will tell you that is nearly impossible to stop an assasssin who is willing to die to take out his target.

What an idiot that old bitty is! She offers no rationale or explanation of why she believes Obama would be assassinated. Leads me to believe that she has stereotyped Americans as racists who would assassinate a sitting President because he's black.

Fact is that all US Presidents live under the threat of assassination. The Secret Service has a full-time job sorting out between wackos whose bark is worse than their bite and the true would-be assassins who only need an opportunity. So I'm not underestimating the threat that would exist should Obama be elected. I'm saying that the threat against Obama would be no different than those that exist against any sitting US President.

Typical European attitude until they get their asses in a sling and call on you-know-who to bail them out.

We already do that Duster. In Texas, we also say the pledge to the Texas flag.
P.S. (With under God, intact.)

Where do you live where students can't pray silently and/or say the Pledge of Allegiance?

Or did you want compulsory silent prayer and Pledge of Allegiance recitals?

Easy, when I was stationed in good ol'e Mountain View, Ca, my daughter was not allowed to recite the Pledge of Alleigience in Kindergarden. To many liberal left wingers with money... it was a dang shame... most of whom didnt even have the courtesy to learn to speak English properly...

But we made sure she could recite it anyway. Smile
