The US military deaths in Iraq as of today were reported to be 4,085. May may have been the lowest but who knows what the future will hold. I remain pessimistic.

To Hopes that June and July will be even better for our troops.. I like the fact that Petraeus remains pragmatic and guarded with his assessments, and has so far eschewed the urge to do any grandstanding....

Couldn't pull up the article, but anytime the deaths are down, that's a good thing.
God Bless our men and women in harms way...

Facts don't lie, but trying to correlate deaths in Vietnam to Iraq just will not wash. The wars are totally different. That's like the president trying to equate Iraq with WWII or the deaths in the Peloponnesian War with WW1. Not even close. Let’s just stick to the existing statistics.

Stick to the statistics that make the situation appear the "worst". Ya, that's the ticket! You and the Democratic party....that's hoping for the situation to fail. Political.

Not only military casualties but Iraqi civilian casualties were halved last month over the previous one. Considering the operations in Basra, Sadr City and Mosul, that's remarkable.

But I believe somebody's been fudging ill-defined data, poorly collected and vaguely reported from the get-go - in both categories. The real body-count is going to have to wait for the post-mortem.

Your irrational and obvious hatred of a certain political party clouds your thinking. But, if you can rationally equate Iraq with Vietnam, I would be more than interested in seeing. You must first overcome the type of war and troop strength when comparing. That would be an interesting mathematical equation.

Evidently, outlaw, charts are one of your favorite things, so here are a few more gratuitous charts for you and the Sarge to oh and aha over. You can even make up correlations to other things that have no relationship to reality!

You are correct, numbers don't lie.

Troops in Vietnam from 1960-1969

Troops in Iraq - Total 159,907, including 150,000 from the US, 4,000 from the UK, 2,000 from Georgia, 900 from Poland, 650 from South Korea and 2,357 from all other nations

While we're at it, here are some more numbers for you.
Lost & Unaccounted for in Iraq - $9 billion of US taxpayers' money and $549.7 milion in spare parts shipped in 2004 to US contractors. Also, per ABC News, 190,000 guns, including 110,000 AK-47 rifles.
Missing - $1 billion in tractor trailers, tank recovery vehicles, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and other equipment and services provided to the Iraqi security forces. (Per CBS News on Dec 6, 2007.)

Mismanaged & Wasted in Iraq - $10 billion, per Feb 2007 Congressional hearings

Halliburton Overcharges Classified by the Pentagon as Unreasonable and Unsupported - $1.4 billion

Amount paid to KBR, a former Halliburton division, to supply U.S. military in Iraq with food, fuel, housing and other items - $20 billion

Portion of the $20 billion paid to KBR that Pentagon auditors deem "questionable or supportable" - $3.2 billion

And how much pork did the Dems put into the spending bills, did you add that to those totals. Or did we for get to add those to totals. Nothing change since Democlans got into office except gas prices went up.

Oh, I wont, I wont - I notice you didn't say who we're winning for.

Well to fill in the blank that you left, we're fighting in Iraq to make the place a safe ally of Iran. Very patriotic, if your an Iranian.

Roll Eyes And how much pork did the Republicans throw around when they were running things? People seem to forget that though.

I shouldn't think anyone is telling anyone 'we are winning in Iraq'. Not whilst you're still losing 20 of your sons/daughters a month. Is that what victory looks like? The steady drip of lost blood and treasure?
