The US military deaths in Iraq as of today were reported to be 4,085. May may have been the lowest but who knows what the future will hold. I remain pessimistic. |

To Hopes that June and July will be even better for our troops.. I like the fact that Petraeus remains pragmatic and guarded with his assessments, and has so far eschewed the urge to do any grandstanding....

Couldn't pull up the article, but anytime the deaths are down, that's a good thing.

Facts don't lie, but trying to correlate deaths in Vietnam to Iraq just will not wash. The wars are totally different. That's like the president trying to equate Iraq with WWII or the deaths in the Peloponnesian War with WW1. Not even close. Let’s just stick to the existing statistics.

Stick to the statistics that make the situation appear the "worst". Ya, that's the ticket! You and the Democratic party....that's hoping for the situation to fail. Political. |

Not only military casualties but Iraqi civilian casualties were halved last month over the previous one. Considering the operations in Basra, Sadr City and Mosul, that's remarkable.
But I believe somebody's been fudging ill-defined data, poorly collected and vaguely reported from the get-go - in both categories. The real body-count is going to have to wait for the post-mortem. |

Your irrational and obvious hatred of a certain political party clouds your thinking. But, if you can rationally equate Iraq with Vietnam, I would be more than interested in seeing. You must first overcome the type of war and troop strength when comparing. That would be an interesting mathematical equation. |

Evidently, outlaw, charts are one of your favorite things, so here are a few more gratuitous charts for you and the Sarge to oh and aha over. You can even make up correlations to other things that have no relationship to reality! |

Oh, I wont, I wont - I notice you didn't say who we're winning for. Well to fill in the blank that you left, we're fighting in Iraq to make the place a safe ally of Iran. Very patriotic, if your an Iranian. Dave |

I shouldn't think anyone is telling anyone 'we are winning in Iraq'. Not whilst you're still losing 20 of your sons/daughters a month. Is that what victory looks like? The steady drip of lost blood and treasure? |
