America the "Greatest" Country in the world but we still have some of the Greatest problems,Racisim,Bigorty and Hatred so we must continue to Pray and ask God to bring about Change. This Medal is Long overdue and it adds to what someone once said "Please" give me my Flowers while i can still smell them... God Bless America.

My thoughts exactly. Paperwork for a MOH doesn't get "Lost" unless it's thrown into the round file. There was a lot of racial prejudice around during the early 50's and not just directed at blacks.

The idea that this award took 6 decades to render is truly a travesty.

This same situation seems to be happening to one of my Marines; Sgt Rafael Peralta, a Mexican National who threw himself on a grenade to save fellow Marines. A point of contention in the board of review is his "state of mind" given the fact that he was shot twice in the face beforehand.

I personally believe that any member of that board voting against the award should be clubbed severely in the face and see if they are able to think of anything but their own condition.

Present this Marine with his well deserved Honor!

Well, since it took exactly 15 years to fully implement anti-discrimination in the Armed Forces, some how I am not surprised that records got lost. The 442nd Regimental Combat team made up of Japanes ancestry soldiers was the most decorated in WW11. How many of them deserved them MOH and never got it? Same way with the "Tallahasse Airmen".

Regardless, Semper Fi soldier, long time coming.

I believe that's the Tuskegee Airmen, Gunny. Those Tallahassee Airmen are the one's hanging out on the beach every day!

Congratulations to this fine soldier.

A lot of MOH's have been awarded lately to people who should have gotten them over 40 or 50 years ago. I'd hope that the military is now better at giving awards to those who deserve them while they have the chance the wear them in uniform.

I sort of suspect not though...

My Heartfelt congradulation's to the family. From what I read it seem's Master sargent "Woody" wore the uniform of a humble every day Joe as well as He wore the uniform of a warrior. This honor is long overdue. You brought great honor to the Souix nation and to America Woody. Thank you from a greatful American. Wish I had known you.

Why is it that this can't be a most honorable occasion. Why is it that someone always has to throw in the race card and ruin it. Or start going on about "how can they always lose the paperwork?" It just so happens that in the last four years our community has presented medals to veterans at our war memorial that they had not been issued during WWII. My late father and father-in-law were awarded medals that they hadn't been issued during WWII. All these men are White men. There was nothing racial about it. It is just that so many veterans were involved period.

Master Sergeant Woodrow Wilson Keeble, veteran of World War II and Korean War, was a man who certainly represents the uncommon bravery, valor and commitment of America's other warriors, who may or may not have received recognition when it was due. I remember my father who was a decorated veteran of World War II once stating that so many of his fellow veterans went unrecognized for their feats, but remained silent, happy and content that their deeds made victory over the enemy possible or saved the lives of their comrades. He said that as long as the memories of those deeds are passed on by those comrades, the recognition means more than any medal, as was apparently the case with Master Sergeant Keeble. Regardless, honors are now rendered where honor is long over due.

The Sioux people, the people of North Dakota, and all Americans, veterans and non-vets alike can be proud of this deserving son.

"paperwork" got "lost" a lot in the three wars between 1917 and 1953. it was not uncommon to see white commanders getting medals meant for ... erm... "darker" skinned subordinates.

but the important fact is that this paperwork is being "found" and the grievious errors (in judgement) are being corrected.

this man's life in and out of the military was honorable and in line with the highest traditions of america. he is sorely missed, but his accomplishments are out there to inspire many more Americans to come.

God Bless Sgt Keebler. rest.. you desrve it...
