I have not been back to Europe in a number of years, but I do have enough family there to know that the average American even those that have served there in the distant past do not have a clue as to what is going on.

I have to admit it is a feeling that I know only through some family and friends however the believe that the Americans need to leave and return to America and there has been no need for them since the fall of the USSR. I am mixed on that however I would rather see American troops on American soil and let Europe care for herself come what may.

I truly believe that many in America do not want to see Europe capable of competing (economically or otherwise) with the States or any country for that matter.

Every country over there has them, although they go by different names, they are considered the same people just in different countries. One wants out real bad so she could start some kind of life but it took too long for his country to meet the requirements to join the EU, when they were able to join, restrictions were put on them for automatic travel to other EU countries for work like many countries like Poland and others that had joined before were able to work.
Although his country is tech wise no longer communist, it is still socialist, meaning, if you want something done, you must pay under the table. Not until they have totally free elections and rid their government of the old socialist his country will not thrive.

One thing our friend has failed to say when he mentioned his people own their own homes and apartments, yes they do, seen those apartments and so have most of you. from the communist era, they still stand, cracked, needing torn down. The consztruction industry there is booming andmost young people nowdays are getting loans from the banks to buy their own housing.

May be the flats built during the communist era do not look like apartments onthe PARK Awenue in New York City but at least the older people hawe their already paid apartments and are not liwing on the streets.

Bulgaria!!!!!! Been there dude and I saw just how much the Bulgarians still love the germans, after all, Bulgaria was part of the german axis power during WWII so basically the Bulgarians are more german than bulgarian.

You are right, it was the Lisbon Treaty, but in the end the irish put a stop to it, didn't they. Wake up dude!!!!!!!!!! there are other european countries that don't want to be a part of france or germany anymore. Their power, even together, is no longer what it or they hope it would be. Both France and Germany, more Germany actually, has been nothing but a bully in europe and other countries are fed up, as the irish just demonstrated.

As for wanting to divide up Europe, we had that chance twice in the 20th century. pity we didn't do that. I think what your problem is, you were like the east germans when the wall went down and they came across and saw all the prosperity that the west had. I went across about eight months later into the old eat and, just like Bulgaria, I had entered the past. No infrastructure at all, no major roads, electricity, actually no city governments that were not still controled by the communist and in Bulgarias case, all you did was change Communism for Socialism. Go back to your own country and see just how much it prospered under communism. You probably got out before the iron curtain went up. Consider yourself lucky dude...............Germany is the way it is today because we let them build back up even better than any other time in their whole history. Ever hear of the Marshal Plan??????
OH!!! I do understand german quite well. Spent 13 years there, seven in uniform and six as a civilain working for germans. SO!!!! I do keep abreast of european happenings because I have spent most of my adult life in Europe. Lived and worked from Crete to Scotland, from Ireland to Germany and all points in-between.
