If it isn't a tax they are against it. Democrats once again show their true colors.
House Democrats failed Tuesday to resurrect a bill to punish price gouging at the gas pump, while maneuvering to block Republican attempts to expand offshore drilling, an idea gaining in popularity amid $4-a-gallon gas prices. |

I am not very pleased with either party or candidate. Mr. Obama wants to tax the major energy companies, thus putting a damper on energy development and he is against drilling off shore or in ANWAR or anywhere else for that matter.
But then, Mr. McCain is in favor of NAFTA, which off shored our industries and led to this bout of unfair and unbalanced trade and is leading to our economic collapse... Wherein is the choice?... Respectfully, SUNLINER81 |

You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me. |
Who was it that signed the executive order banning offshore drilling?? Thats right. It was President George H.W. Bush, in 1990.

Thats right. Back then gas was below $3.00/gal and the states protested that they did not want drilling in their back yard. However, now that gas is $4.00/gal the STATES have changed their minds and WANT off shore drilling. So the president has reversed his order and wants to drill. Because the people of these states have changed their minds. BUT THE DEMOCRATS ARE THE ONES NOW THAT ARE SAYING NO. Changing ones mind when the situation changes is good. In politics we call it flip flop. Sometimes when one flip flops it too can be good. |

" needs to be much higher I say tax then tell their is nothing left but their silhouette
You do realize that most of our tax revenue already comes from the rich? Do you want to make it so bad that they take all of their money and assets and move offshore, and then pay nothing in taxes? |

That was fine when oil was at $30.00 a barrel, but now that oil is at $130.00 a barrel, common sense dictates lifting that ban and drill, drill, drill, until we spill. Unfortunately, it seems that democrats lack this common sense approach as they believe raising taxes on oil companies will somehow produce more oil... "The World's Finest" |

Well - the idea that a country as large as ours can subsist without tax revenues should be finally accepted as a dumb one.
It comes down to finally getting in the weeds and restructuring the tax code to make the game simpler and more fair for the average taxpayer. Taxation on businesses? Far as I'm concerned, since they use American infrastructure (roads, airports, educated people to manage their businesses, etc.) to make their billions, why shouldn't they be taxed appropriately? They would have none of that if America didn't have any of those things I mentioned, so let's let them show their gratitude. I'm certain that view is regarded by many with fear and derision. |

Now, you are certainly smart enough to realize businesses and corporations don't pay taxes, aren't you? "The World's Finest" |

You do realize that most of our tax revenue already comes from the rich? Do you want to make it so bad that they take all of their money and assets and move offshore, and then pay nothing in taxes?
That attitude doesn't surprise me. Let's not piss them off, or they'll take our jobs from us. The middle class provides the bulk of taxes in the United States. And people get snowed by those numbers that they see with what the rich have to pay in taxes - but it doesn't hurt them a bit. It hurts us far more than them. Yet, the less-than-rich defend the rich, and the rich don't give a crap about the less-than-rich. What's wrong with that picture? I find it hilarious that people display that kind of attitude - reminds me of indentured servants (which many are slowly becoming). Real wages are dropping, job security is dwindling - and people don't want to be seen as though they are biting the hand that strokes them. Be grateful you have that job cleaning toilets. You should be happy that you can flip a burger; it's better than nothing at all. And when you consider all the college-educated people who are now doing both those things, imagine how hard it will be for non-degreed people to get jobs that pay a decent, livable wage in the future? And while the people who are suffering the most hack at each other with this liberal/ conservative bullshit, there are people sprinting to the bank, laughing all the way, while you're trying to figure out how to keep your house. |

Kegler, my man: Get the facts. The number of leases granted to drill domestically has gone up over 300 percent in the last couple of decades, and the oil companies don't even take advantage of that fact. Personally, I think that they're loving their profits too much to let something like research, development, and infrastructure maintenance eat at their profits. If they can make the money they make doing what they do now, why should they change? For whom would they do that - the American people? LOL Surely you don't think they care, brother? |
