"I'm concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them," Mr. Powell said in an excerpt of an interview with CNN's John King, released by the network Friday morning.

Powell pulling his finger out of the dam, the flood of discontent is comming!

It will be held off by the 6 months of mourning for Michael Jackson that the media will insist on broadcasting 24/7.

I never liked Bush. But, even still, I find it quite hilarious when any Democratic member of Congress uses the line "when we inherited this problem". No, dipstick, you did not inherit a problem if you were part of the problem. If you were a member of the Congress before the problem, during the onset of the problem and in the midst of the problem, how in the hell could you possibly inherit the problem? Is Congress not the one that handles the money?

Gosh I hate politicians. But, what I hate worse is people who cannot accept responsibility for their own screwups.

Can't speak to Republicans but I'm one conservative Independent that isn't biting ... but he lost me long before he supported Obama anyway.

Powell vs Obama? 2012?
Long shot because the republican conservative establishment wouldn't support him.

lol ... Wishful thinking ... When you look at what the alternative was, namly, a George Bush clone and a ditz for VP ... American's are more than happy with their new President.

But he's not a Conservative.
That's right. He's what Republican's used to be prior to George W. Bush and his cronies. Gen. Powell is the kind of person who once made the Republican Party great.

Not even close. Democrats like yourself continue to remain outspoken in your support of this unprincipled poseur and snake charmer to save face. How bad will it have to get before you are man enough to admit you made a very big mistake?

I respect the good General's service, but not his poticial views. I doubt the Republican's want him as anything other then a commentor. They need leadership, not more folks rocking the boat.

Jack, Reagan had conservative views, along with the 1990's republican party, the newer republican party is what ruined the party. When the conservatives ran the republican party, it did fine. It was when the "Neo-Cons" joined in that it went to the crapper and one of the main reasons I didn't switch from a Dem to the Republican party. Hence I am staying Independent until I find a party that will represent 70% or more of my views.

We can only guess what kind of approval rating a President McCain would be getting. And he's no Bush clone.

I know a former GM employee. A solid Democrat and union man. Never shy about letting me know what he thought about Bush or even Reagan. I did not see him for months. Then we met up again on the forth. I jokingly asked if I could get a discount on a new GM car since I'm a part owner of the company. (60%) He got a real serious look on his face and muttered something like, "I'm damn disapointed with Obama..." Then he changed the subjet. I wanted to keep things lite too so I didn't press it.
Still, I think there are many more Democrats who share this man's disapointment.

Actually ... I'd submit that many are fading away into oblivion. The ones that remain tend to be issue-centric on a few select issues ... or unwilling to admit how badly they screwed up. There are a few exceptions that are just plain stupid.

Duster6, you are the man! I love your style! It's funny how folks don't remember the past/history! Remember Jimmy Carter? He was a decent man with good intentions, however, like Obama, he was nieve.
With that being said. I'll still be playing golf, shooting my guns and knowing that here in Kentucky, Obama won't have much of chance to take this state! His best chance was last year, that didn't happen.
Yep, everyone continues to blame GWB, however, GWB is NOT a questionable character. GWB kept us safe after 911 and didn't run on polls.

Barney Frank is back in the condo market, Pelosi is still visiting our troops for one day and spending 5 on vacation, we only have to pay something like 867 Billion in interest a year for our national debt, and the republicans still don't have a serious contender for the 2012 election. So sit back and enjoy the moment and blame everything on Bush. Our politicians are.

lol ... All wishful thinking here. We Democrats support our government and our President, and even wanted George W. Bush to be successful. That's the difference between democrats and Republicans. We support our system of government and want to give it every chance to succeed. If you somehow think the government ills and mismanagement of the past 8 years, the failure of the economy under George Bush, his mistake of a war in Iraq, Katrina aftermath, the total incompetence of a rogue and amateurish administration, were going to be instantly solved, then maybe Hollywood is for you, because our problems aren't fairy tales or happy endings, far from it. Alot of hard decisions had to be made and are being made daily. Decisions that weren't going to please everyone. Nothing good and lasting ever comes cheap ... The people are giving Barack Obama that chance to do well, and those who aren't giving him that chance, are going to have themselves a very-very miserable next 7+ years. I support our President, you as American's, should do the same.

You are joking, right?

Maybe you and (some others) , a few democrats did here. IMHO the majority did not (though maybe kept to a minimum due to Greenhat.)

I post on a teachers site which makes PCP look tame (although the cussing is tamer). That site has a majority of liberals (majority teachers) that posted hate about Bush long before he was even elected and still continue to do so.

In general, I would agree that both Democrats and Republicans support our government ... regardless of which party is in control and recognizing that "disagreement with a policy" does not constitute "not supporting". Then there are the blind and stupid ...

Well one of those problems was instantly solved. If we have another Katrina the blame won't be put on the president. Now that it is a Democrat the blame will be put at state, county (parish), and city levels where it belongs.
