If a tree falls in a forest and lands on a politician, even if you can't hear the tree or the screams, I'll bet you'd at least hear the applause.

Well, seems the Aussies are still in the market for skilled labor, trades, and professionals. Could be a good place for all those who have threatened (promised?) to leave if (insert favorite demonic individual here with a choice of McCain, Obama, or Clinton) wins the presidency this November. However, as Australia is somewhat particular about the shade of the skin the prospective immigrant, certain individual may not be eligible.

David, do you remember how we got the Aussies to join us in RVN? We agreed to buy a lot of mutton from them. There was an Aussie warrant officer attached to 4th Transportation Command in Saigon in 1968. We roomed and worked together for a couple of months, like September-November 68. He provided the meat to the Five Oceans Hotel, our supper eating designation. By time I left Saigon in November 68 I hated mutton.

Part of the pay package will be five pounds of mutton a week.

This may have been true in bygone years, but now that we have become a third world country, those "chicks" that loved not so much American guys as their money, have fallen in love with those guys from China, Japan and all the other countries that we (our elected officials) have sold out to... This can be cured by voting for Alferd E. Newman in the comming election.

The Diggers are a damn sight less fussy nowadays than they were in the seventies, they're quite happy to take people from the Pacific Rim nations as well as the Subcontinent.

Their main problem with regards population growth these days is a shortage of water, they've been in a drought for the last five years or so and it's leading some towns and cities to question whether they can sustain significant population growth.
