Another round of friendly fire stories, this time used to cover-up murders. That nasty small-town 'press' just won't accept the facts.

And how many times have things like this happened, and the truth wasn't caught? No family should ever be lied to about the death of their loved one!

And what's more, this looks like it was only a cover up to protect the command that failed to protect SPC Kamisha Block. How can anyone think that their career is more important than the life of one of their soldiers? Of course, I'm sure that they never expected it to go as far as murder. "Things like that don't happen in my command!" Well, now they know that they do, and they need to be dealt with. It's time for the piper to be paid!

I think the articles closing paragraph sums it up quite well:
quote:
"Two weeks ago, Defense Secretary Robert Gates did something unprecedented to the Air Force. He fired the top civilian and military commanders, the secretary of the Air Force and a four-star general, for two mistakes involving nuclear weapons. If someone in the Army were fired or demoted for trying to lie to Kamisha Block's parents, blunders like this might not happen."

RIP, SPC Kamisha Block

What kind of soldier would want to shoot such a comrade once, let alone another 4 times?

If it was my boy he really would need protecting, it would be best he stayed in Iraq.

Absolutely disgraceful. This reaks of someone in her immediate chain of command covering their own ***... I hope the dirtbag gets stripped and court-martialed. There is no excuse for Officers or NCO's that don't take responsibility for their actions. How can we have an effective chain of command and efficient military with selfish, career-minded individuals like that?

Nicky , even in your most psychotic state I would hope you wouldn't describe what happened to this soldier as 'friendly fire'. Or maybe you 'know' something about her that you're not at liberty to divulge.

To do so would give cretinism a bad name.

Back at ya.

Eagle, Nicky and Sunshiner

What happened to that great 'family' of arms that looks out for each other?

You doofi represent everything that's wrong with what could be the greatest force for good on earth.

Thank you for helping us outsiders understand.

This is a double tragedy. You would think the military might have learned something from L/CPL Lautebach's death.

Abuse in the ranks can not be tolerated, period. This has to be taken seriously.

I think some NCO's and Officers in SPC Kamisha Block's unit ought to fry for gross negligence and dereliction of duty for starters. Then double whammy them for trying yo cover it up.

Perhaps the most pertinent post in a thread full of willy-waving.

Raises a good question too - what were Block's platoon/troop subaltern and sergeant doing while she was being harassed? It's after all a subby's job to pick up when there's trouble amongst his/her soldiers and sort it out before it gets to this stage.

Agreed. Unfortunately the recent pattern would suggest that person will be E-5 or below.

popsiq...
All due respect to you and your postings of late...

It seems that you have and do take exceptions to uncovering many articles denegrating the US military...handing out a laundry basket of anti-US military dirt at every whipstich.
The links you show are suspect in the least, as far as being refutable and reliable...and, in many cases, have been proven to be caustically anti-US and anti-US Military.

Having known that...it is best in the interests of everyone that you refrain from posting anything military-related...pro- or otherwise in the future.
All you have done, and have continued to do is stir up yet another hornet's nest with your anti-US military postings.

You have no military experience whatsoever...so please butt out of any future military-related discussions...because of your attitude.

There are legions of members without military experience who have NOT taken the tangent you have...and have stirred up the emotions of late as you have.

Bottomline...
This article is a clear, undisguised attempt to bait and draw members into an out and out one-sided fist fight that will, in the end, cause some ill-feelings to surface...as this topic has already exhibited.
This topic will degenerate quickly unless it comes to a screeching halt.
This a no-win situation.
