Well, here is an interactive graphic of the United States depicting the stimulus jobs created or saved by Obama's $747B (est) package. California was fairly large in what it received. How about your states? make sure to narrow the search and pick your state. You can also view by individual county by running your mouse pointer of the county.

??? I plugged in the link and a text window popped up. That did not happen when I originally visited the Associated Press websight. However, single clicking on the text box opened to the actual interactive map window.

It appears you also will need to have Adobe Flash as well. Most of us will most likely already have that from our web crusing.

ArtMarsh, the link worked for me.

I found it very interesting as I cruised around the Map checking places I've been in my life. Here on Kauai where I live it showed,

57.64 Total jobs created
5 Agriculture
38.74 Construction
3.4 Other Services
2.5 Unspecified

I am a General Contractor here on Kauai. In my family here in Hawaii we have three General Contractors and two Electrical Contactors other famiy members have different businesses and a few work for other peoples businesses. Most of us own our own businesses.

I have layed off seven employees at my business and now run with my core crew of four to five employees. The fifth is needed off and on and I always work with my guys.

I know a lot of Contractors on the island and in my State. The number of people that have been layed off by them far out-numbers that of the jobs created in the construction field by this plan. My friends and family alone can create more jobs than this plan did.

The govt and their greedy medeling, Barney Franks, Maxine, Chris, on and on, both sides guilty but the top of the list sure leans to the left, so far I'm suprized it hasn't toppled. Maybe next election.

What the govt has done is horrible, I didn't like Bush's spending but this incredible amount that Obama has spent is insane and will not help us here on Kauai or Hawaii.
I hope you live where it's working but then, you can't be. The plan doesn't work anywhere.

How exactly can you count 2.5 jobs unspecified as a job saved because of the stimuspend bill?

I see errors all over this site just from what local papers say compared to what this site says.

I too question their analysis methodology... it seems "off" and the local news has stated that California's portion of the stimulus affected 110,000 workers and brought in $18 billion. The AP values appear to be different and cover only about $250 Billion of the stimulus funds.

But I did find the AP's breakdown by job sector to be of interest. Did you try looking at that aspect of the interactive graphic?

One thing I can say is that we are seeing a definite rise in employer job openings for technology and manufacturing professionals across the country since September. For recruiters at least that is more money coming in.

Ya I'm looking into it more. It seems sketchy at best.

I think the AP only covered 250B of the stimulus funds because thats all that has been spent so far?

Just one question, how does a county in the middle of Illinois get 17k jobs created or saved? That is more than most major urban areas that I looked at. Just seems odd to me.

Can anyone see what is going on? The government want to look like the hero. Twas the government that helped cause this mess. They want to make it look like they actually came in and fixed everything, so the gullible folks believe that government is the answer to everything. Yay big government, you now have folks who believe you saved the day....so now when you grow in size, and rob more taxpayer money, you don't look so bad.

From the looks of it some are counted multiple times or current jobs that received salary increases are also included as a "job saved/created".
