Jimmy Carter made reference to the State of Israel's unofficial collection of "150, or more" nuclear warheads yesterday. In doing so, he's the first western leader to acknowledge what Sununu told the world, and is still doing time for. Israel made its own nuclear weapons.

Ostensibly for its own defense, the weapons were made secretly with no consideration of western non-proliferation conventions.

Israel is calling for military action to stop Iran from developing a nuclear capability. Iran being one of the few countries in the region to have adhered, thus far, to its non-proliferation agreements.

Like Israel, India and Pakistan flouted convention to develop nuclear arms without sanctions from the Western powers.

The Western powers have exponentially greater nuclear weapons stockpiles that any of the subsidiary players.

And?

When your countries will have similar experience to Israel, talk to me again. I hope that it won't happen.

It's getting on to the time for ole jimmy to hang up the spurs and go rest on the plantation, drink some Mint Julips and remember the good times, before he was El Presidente.

And what "convention" did they flout? Unlike, apparently, Iran, they did not enter into any "convention" ... more power to them (literally and figuratively).

This is hardly news. I've seen the number 200 kicked around for years in open sources.

Carter is a disgrace... simply a propagandist for the highest bidder.

Like other opportunists (Pelosi for one) he is using the Jewish people for personal gain.

Carter, the poster child of liberal nut jobs.

That's exactly what they did, refused to sign a non-proliferation agreement. That's why to-day everybody and his, or her, nanny wants (needs?) the same 'power'.

There is a LARGE difference between those nations who establish nuclear weapons for defense and those who wish to destroy their neighbors don't you agree?

Nations who profess their desire to destroy another nation, race, religion etc., probably should not have nuclear weapons.

A question of semantics really. There are nations that claim peaceful intent and then act otherwise. The question is which pot is calling the kettle black?

Nuclear weapons 'up the ante' insofar as even the most pacific of nations would use them against an enemy if it was considered that it could be 'unilateral' or 'preemptive'. That was the case on the only instance of their use in war. They weren't used 'defensively' but as a practical 'test' and a warning that more would come.

Since then the only thing that has prevented their use was MAD, among the great powers, and timely intervention in lesser disputes. Their 'tactical' or 'limited' use is still regularly discussed and theorized in military circles.

The notion that 'everybody should have one' is truly frightening. But then the other extreme (Ban the Bomb) is considered ludicrous. The middle path - some and not others - will probably lead to their use, again, before long.

Exactly! That is why obvious aggressor nations such as Iran should be stopped before they acquire such weapons.

Illogical. If Marshall islands will have nuke, i doubt that Australia will want one.

Ummmm. Iran is a signatory to the anti-proliferation treaty, while Israel is not.
Your BS is becoming hard to wade through.

What?! Clearly you do not understand the dribble that spews from thy own mouth.

Do you know anything at all about the nuclear poliferation in the ME?

Riddle me this. If Israel has nukes, when and how did they test them?

Are you aware that India and Pakistan both tested nuclear weapons and declared their possession of same publicly while Israel has not?

So, please explain how it is that Israel miraculously caused an "arms race" when they never claimed to have the weapons in the first place.

Surely you're not going to deny that they have nukes? Especially since THEY respond to this question with "no comment."

Did they throw this guy Vannunu in jail just for fun and games?

I'm not certain if Israel has nukes or not. The fact is, they have never tested any nukes and they have never claimed to possess nukes; so in short Israel HAS NOT CAUSED ANY OTHER NATION TO OBTAIN NUKES AS SOME DOLTS ON THIS FORUM LIKE TO SUGGEST.
