IMHO she's a smug moron, not even worthy of a Jerry Springer type show.

The great thing about opinins, humble or otherwise, is that we all can have one. Razz There are countries in which it may not be wise to express them out loud but that's another topic... Frown

I never thought of Ms. Palin as smug. Confident in her abilities, but not smug. And I certainly do not believe the people of Alaska would elect a moron. Minnasota on the other hand...

"Once I decided not to run for re-election, I also felt that to embrace the conventional Lame Duck status in this particular climate would just be another dose of politics as usual, something I campaigned against and will always oppose," Palin said in a statement released by her office.

Perhaps she has something that has been missing in politics for a very long time....

The media will have to "feed" on someone else (and their children) now.
And...
Here is what she had to say to the people of her state. It is a video clip from msn .com (Notice 1) that she also included the military in her remarks and 2) she didn't use a teleprompter.)

She QUIT!
She's been in way over her head since McCain picked her.
Now she can go back to being a good little soccer mom...you betcha!
She doesn't have the "balls", so to speak, to withstand the world of real politics.
Her resignation is proof positive don'tcha know!

Oh goodness, what is she up to now? I think she should have finished the job she started.

If she wanted out of politics then, fine.

On the other hand, if she wants out because she does not want to put her family through that anymore, I think that is OK.

The press has been especially brutal to her, so in this case, I don't think it is politics as usual on behalf of her family.

Yes 2 terms President of the US. 2 terms that have already gone down in history as one of the worst periods of US history. Applause

What may have influenced her decision is the relentless attacks and lawsuits by the left, and the $2 million it has cost the taxpayers of Alaska and the $500 million it's cost her and her family. She has won and was exhonerated in every lawsuit, but at a very great cost to her family and Alaska. This is what politics has become.

G. Bush - alcohol abuser, drug abuser, criminal record, failed businessman,

Failure as governor (during his tenure, Texas ranked near the bottom in environmental evaluations).

Presidency is disreput (Bush left the White House as one of the most unpopular American presidents. He left office with unpopularity second to Richard Nixon; In 2006, 744 professional historians surveyed by New York-based Siena College regarded Bush's presidency as follows: Great: 2%; Near Great: 5%; Average: 11%; Below Average: 24%; Failure: 58%).

Caused America grave damage by his perceived actions during presidency (In 2006, a majority of respondents in 18 of 21 countries surveyed around the world were found to hold an unfavorable opinion of Bush. Respondents indicated that they judged his administration as negative for world security.[311][312] In 2007, the Pew Global Attitudes Project reported that during the Bush presidency, attitudes towards the United States and the American people became less favorable around the world)......

Yeah, a great person overall Roll Eyes

Oh ok, I knew they had a little money but not that much. The only thing she's ever said that I agree with is that she does come from humble roots and she and her husband have built their own success. I'll give her that. Her politics on the other hand...

It's cost her $500 million? My goodness, why didn't she contribute more to the Party; maybe buy them $190,000 she spent on a wardrobe on her own dime instead of theirs? Big Grin
********

Ah. my bad, I see Koran has already picked up on that, as well as you picked up on that... Smile

Personally I am VERY surprised at this announcement. While it's true that she will have more time to campaign, there's nothing like being in a Governers chair to give one a "Bully pulpit." Moreover if I was a citizen who voted for her, I would not be happy with her quitting with more than a year to go. They sure didn't vote with the intention of having the Lt. Governer fill the job.

I suspect we will all know soon enough.

Don't want to insult those that insult, but being smug comes easy for you that hasn't a thing in your portfoilio except a Circuit City computer and a loud mouth.

There's not one of you that could go one round with the bias media, DNC (The crap you're spewing) and her own party putting her down. There has to be a jealous in the comments, Mayor, Governor, a family close knit. Somewhere along the way you've been shortchange on life's road and trying to take out your paranoid inversions on a woman. She was never my choice but I live in Florida, Alaskans seemed to approve of her over 70%. She was not my choice in 2008 for VP from a SMALL POPULATION STATE (less than 700,000) her draw was limited at best.

Never have we witness such celebration for an apparent political demise. How pathetic.
