I am a junior in High School, and I want to be a Marine officer. I have the grades to get into a NROTC school (interested in Norwich, The Citadel, and VMI), I am a 3 year varsity wrestler, however I don't understand the process to get a scholarship or get into a ROTC program. If anybody could help me out that would be appreciated. Also if anybody has any suggestions on things to be doing also appreciated. Thanks.

go here:

It works like this: you fill out the online application, write 3 essays, get 4 letters of recommendation, take a physical, and undergo an officer interview.
Seeing as your a Junior, and this is just beginning the 2nd semester, you have plenty of time to prepare. First thing is start a running based workout. The basic PFT is a 3 miler, sit ups out of 200 possible in 2 minutes, and pullups out of 20, so needless to say, your workout should be based around these. Run alot, and get a workout buddy to help you with the sit ups and pullups.
Academically, just keep doing what you're doing. Well roundedness is the key: Sports, athletics, music, leadership, etc. are all important and weigh in the final consideration.
As far as getting into an "ROTC school"...it looks as though you're interested in primarily military institutions. I don't know about those because I didn't apply to any, but the scholarship and the school are two separate things; apply to the school and once you're accepted, you can apply the scholarship to the school.
To get really good information, though, you need, and let me emphasize that, NEED to contact your local OSO, or to start, your local recruiter.
Lastly, my suggestion(s). Wait until you finish this year to complete the application. You will be more mature(which is important when writing your personal statements), your grades will be finalized, and you will have all summer to write your essays unimpeded by school stress, etc.
Anyway, contact the OSO, go to the site, and good luck!
If you have any specific questions about the application process, you can email me at nick.a.bell@hotmail.com
