Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell what the name (in military glossary) on the left and the right side of helmet that I think it shields both ears from annoying sound? Often I saw the same thing on the pilot helmet. Thank u very much |

Hi Jayson,
It looks to me to to be the ear-phone part of the communication system. I think you can just make out the boom mike on the other side. Thease helmets offer little or no ballistic protection and have been abandoned by all apart from the old "Warsaw pact" and third rate Army's. Hope this has answered your qwestion. ARTE ET MARTE |

Soviet tanker lids use a throat mic.
From the size of those headsets (and the way he's so wrapped up), that CVC helmet is a fleeced lined winter version. That would account for how far they protrude from the head. 15 years ago. I rewired a Soviet CVC to accept our cannon plugs. The wire colors were an exact match, except for the grounding sheathing. It worked fine, though it was not easy to decipher what I was saying through the throat mic. Running as OPFOR, I really blended in Life ain't worth living, if ya ain't got a good cigar. |
