I have been following JPADS and think it is one of the great unreported innovations of the times. After all who cares about how parachutes work. In this regard, perhaps the French would have won at Dien Bein Phu if they had had JPDS. Anyway the question I have not been able to answer is "since JPADS only relies on GPS positioning and a wind drone, is it also used in night drops?" If so I imagine a few Spec ops people jumping off at 30,000 ft at night with a couple thousand Lbs in thier rucksack, along with a vehicle, most anywhere in the world. It would have been invaluable in Vietnam.
