You had 50 rounds fail to fire? I'd get the gun checked by a competent gunsmith. Unless the ammo is VERY old and was improperly stored, it is rare to have trouble with .22 ammo.
Sounds like a problenm with the firing pin.
I'd suspect you've probably dry fred it to check the trigger, your trigger squeeze and just for fun.

DO NOT dry fire a .22!!! You will damage the firing pin. They make special fake rounds, called Snap Caps, if you wish to dry fire.

As for ammo, you can't go wrong with Remington, Winchester, Federal or CCI. Check your local paper for specials and pick up a brick when they're on sale. Our local Big 5 store just had Winchester on sale. (I'm still shooting part of a bunch of PMC .22 I bought 12-14 years ago. I got a great deal on it when a friend closed his gun shop)

Sorry, I exadurated a little, but out of a box of say, 400 Remington Thunderbolt .22s, probably 20-25 did not fire out of a Rem. Speedmaster. However, the blazer ammo we tried, all rounds fired, so I think it was just the quality of the ammo.

Hi Mike:--- Ditto what "Gumby" said above. Remington ammo is a good brand, with a long history. Take the ammo back to the dealer and (take an adult with you) ask for a refund. If you found/borrowed/were given the ammo, then maybe it was exposed to some extremes in either Hot or Cold weather..??

I had a Ruger .22 auto pistol like yours. Practice trigger control. The way the grip is on that one , it makes it very easy to put tooo much of your finger around the trigger and pull the gun slightly off target as you fire. Try and remember to only put the first joint of your finger on the trigger and squeeeezzze-NOT jerk or pull. {This takes some doing, but stick with it!}

Another thing about the Ruger .22 Auto is that the barrel is out there by it's self...Most/many handguns have some weight under the barrel---which helps keep things aligned and on target.

Have you written to or visited the NRA website yet ? They have junior memberships and good info and stuff, so check them out. Stay safe.

Gumby, it's less the firing pin, as it is the breech face getting peened from the firing pin impacts. This results in more frequent FTF, and the empty case jamming into the now too small hole.

I had a Star F and it had been dry fired to the point that it had a serious dent from the firing pin. It was a shame, as it was a neat gun. But I got too aggrivated with the fail to fires and traded it in as a parts gun. Wish I had it back of course.

I also had some problems with the remington thunderbolts. I now use CCI or Winchester X-pert only.

I have never shot the Mark III but I have a Mark II and it is a great gun. I probably have a couple thou through it. It just gets better with age. I have a red dot on it and it is alot of fun to shoot.

I recently added a Walther SP22 to the stable. It is also alot of fun. I had trouble with it after 50 rounds and sent it back to Walther. Now I have 3 or 400 through it and I have the "two stage" trigger figured out. It is also alot of fun. Lighter than the Ruger, so you can feel more kick. It feels more like a real pistol when it goes off. I am going to buy the Jr. grip so that my son can shoot it.

Even with the recent Supreme court decision, (should have been 9-0 in favor of)... That's a no brainer. Despite that decision the leftist gun grabbers will still be at work.

I hope iam not off topic here, but iam hoping for someone to enlighten me about a pistol iv'e seen in pics but not ever in a shop. Its the Beretta Px4 Storm. I have not seen one up close-yet, but it uses a 5.7mm round. Therein lies my confusion. This pistol has a 20 rnd mag., and I haven't seen this ammo around. Has anyone had any experience with this pistol, and its ammo? Pls tell how good/bad this pistol is.

http://www.berettausa.com/product/spotlight/spotlight_pistol_px4.cfm

if you look at the chart, the only caliber that has a 20 round mag cap. is the 9mm. there also does not appear to be a px4 in 5.7
about the ammo, the last time i was at the shop, they had a pretty good stock of 5.7.

I know the FN P-90 takes the 5.7 mm (P-90), and the FN Five-Seven pistol does too, (Five-Seven))but I have never heard of a Beretta pistol that uses it.

Some of the officers on my department use the Px4. To the best of my knowledge, it comes in 9mm, .40, and .45. Go to this web site. At the bottom it mentions that based on local laws, you can get a magazine extender for the 9mm giving you a 20 round capacity.
Px4

The officers that use it seem to like it. I haven't used it, I'm an old dog that doesn't like learning new tricks, but the pistol seems like it was made to Beretta's usual standards, and it incorporates a light rail, and interchangable grips for hand size variations.

Beretta has been extremely reliable for me. Can't say anything about the FN since I've never actually seen one.
