I've thought about it because it'd be something awesome to bring to the range once every three months or so...
I am having a hard time justifying 1200 dollars on a DEAGLE...
I'm not looking to use it for perosnal protection. I alreay have a glock 23 (40 cal) and a XD compact 45.
1) There's no such thing as a DEAGLE except in video games... It's called a Desert Eagle and is made by Magnum Research Inc...
2) You can buy it just like you can any other handgun as far as I know... I'm sure there's some retarded restrictions in California just like everything else in that state, but you should be able to go to your local gun dealer and buy one... If they don't have it, have them order it for you... Just keep in mind that there are many different models available and they're all pricey and it's dollar for dollar a poor choice of weaponry...
Yes, I know it's a Desert Eagle, but I figured DEAGLE was a proper term for it... as people who I've never talked to has called it that before... Gander Mtn, Base pro shops and that sort.
I'm contemplating on buying one... I was wondering if anyone here has one and what they jusitifed on buying one... It's not a easily concealable pistol so that's out... Probably be better off just going out and buying a shotgun or a rifle.
DE's are a novelty gun. Regardless of what caliber you get it in, it's still a huge pistol with practically zero concealablility. Very hard to find a useful belt holster for it too.
If all you want it for is to make loud noises at the range, and blast soda cans to bits....it makes for an expensive toy.
Life ain't worth living, if ya ain't got a good cigar.

Losers. No one around here calls it by that name. What do those folks call AR rifles and shotguns?

If you're looking for a reason to justify buying a Desert Eagle, you probably won't find one... Unless you've got all your credit cards paid off, your home and car loans are paid off, your kids college funds are topped off, and you've got about a million bucks stashed and earning interest for retirement... And after all that you've got an extra thousand or so bucks that's burning a hole in your pocket... Sure... Go crazy... Buy a useless gun b/c you have nothing else better to do with your money... Until then, I'd stick to something more practical and cheaper... If you just want something to go plinking at the range then buy a .17HMR, .22LR, .22MAG, etc... Heck of a lot cheaper to buy and the bullets ain't real pricey either...
LoveCheese, I'm in agreeance with Stars and JGCoastie that ANY Desert Eagle is a novelty. Heck, why not get the gold plated one? You already have the Glock and Springfield, those are awesome enough already. The 1200$+ that you're not spending on a DE, you can get accessories, parts, and ammo for those two.
my dad bought a dessert eagle. I think its really just for show. the ones they have in games are better mine just jams every other round. and has major recoil
The Desert Eagle has no practical use in day to day life. I'm sure it's great for game hunting with a pistol, or for wilderness defense though. However, it IS a fun gun to shoot. If you have the money, and really want one, by all means get it! I'd go used though, as they tend to run 700-850 bucks used, and when you get tired of it (and you will get tired of it) you can resell it for basically the same price you bought it for. If you're in California, as I recall, they have a stupid ban on .50 caliber weapons, so you'd have to shop around for one in .357 or .44 Magnum.

The "Baby Eagle" (Formerly the Jericho 941) is a fine pistol. They're based on the the CZ-75 platform, and are very well made guns. My only gripe with them from first-hand experience is that they tend to be a little "finicky" with target-grade ammo. They handle personal defense ammo, and M882 ball ammo like a champ though.
