i was just wondering if anyone owns one of the XD-M pistols in 40S&W. i already have a xd subcompact in 40 as my concealed carry weapon, so if anyone owns both, or has fired both, personal thoughts would be extremely helpfull. i'm looking for tigger pull, how easy the xd-m would be to conceal, and sights. recoil is not a big deal, there's no way the xd-m can torque your hand like the subcompact.

Well, nobody has posted here yet, so I guess I will.

I have an XD45 Service length. My co-worker has an XD45 Compact. We both love them.

I love mine. The trigger is much better than my duty issue Glock 22. Leroy loves his compact, and swears by it.

I carry my XD 4 inch off duty. Concealing is more of an art than anything else. You have to dress around your pistol. In the summer I tend to wear shorts. I cover my pistol with usually Polo/golf shirts, one size up. Or, preferrably, button short sleeve shirts, same size. Straight bottom hem, so you don't look like a dirtbag. Hawaiian shirts, Cabelas safari serengetti shirt, etc. I like a holster that tucks the butt of the weapon in to my side. My current fav is the Blackhawk Askins. Excellent holster.

Advice. ALWAYS carry at least one extra mag. Practice your malfunction drills.

With but minor differences in configuration, the M&P fits my hand like a glove, whereas the XD does not.

Personally, I hate plastic handguns. Until the M&P came around, NONE fit my hand enough to where I felt I was in control of it. The M&P comes up as clean as any of my 1911's, and is as easy to manipulate.

I haven't fired an M&P, but yes, they do feel good in your hand. Also, on the pretty side, I like the scalloping on the slide. Bery, bery nice. Also, I've always seemed to have good luck with S&W triggers. They always seem to be smooth. My old 5903 I had in the early 90's was silky smooth.

Oh, StarsnBars, I was eyeballing the Fenix light website. They look pretty squared away. I'm going to poke around and find a retailer so I can get a closer look.

I've yet to find a retailer for them. The website is secure...enough that I ordered many lights while in Iraq.

The TK11R is now THE tac-light to have. Takes CR123's or Li-On rechargeables for even more light output.

I've now got my eye on the TK40, with close to 600 lumen Big Grin

I have an XD, a 9mm sub that has a 16 rnd mag [extension], it's easy to fire and light. I picked up a .40 cal S&W..wow it was heavy like a hammer. Looking to purchase a Beretta Px4, its not heavy, and yes, made of polymers.
